not 100% sure on this but yes i think they do get the tamiflu sent out to you so that you dont go into the chemist infecting others epsecially if your a high risk person, wether or not they will deliver it to your door at night i dont know for sure

also a doctor could send a prescription to a 24 hour chemist like the boots at blackburn near teh ice ring stadium as i have had prescriptions sent there late at night and have collected them

seen as lindsay works for a chemist she may have a better idea on what services are provided

ps:

get well soon to the pooly person

Found this on the website:

If you have flu-like symptoms and are concerned that you may have swine flu:
  • Read up on swine flu symptoms then use the NHS Direct swine flu symptom checker
  • If you are then still concerned, stay at home and call your GP
  • If swine flu is confirmed, ask a healthy friend or relative to visit your GP to pick up a document entitling you to antiviral medication
  • They will then need to pick the medication up at a collection point your GP will advise on (a local pharmacy or similar)
Note: If you belong to a high-risk group it is particularily important you start taking antivirals as soon as possible. High-risk groups include people with long-term conditions, those over 65, children under five and pregnant women.

Swine flu alert from the NHS

in reference to shillelagh's post

so you should be able to pick a prescription up from teh out of hours doctors at blackburn and get the drugs from teh 24 hour chemist in blackburn

as long as you have transport or know somone willing to collect it for you then you can get the drugs pretty quickly , otherwise you have to wait it seems.

Thanks for all the good wishes! Kels has been given antibiotics that would seem to indicate it's just a virus rather than full on swine flu. I have to keep an eye on her temp for the next 24 hours and keep on with the paracetamol, ibuprofen and fluids! ( looks like I did actually know what I was doing after all!) NHS direct website advises you to contact GP which is what I did, and not to take to hospital unless condition worsens or there are underlying medical conditions, I did the checklist last night and it is quite clear on that. ( also available in large print for those of us with comprehension problems).
Also for info Accyman is correct about the out of hours pharmacy on Townsmoor retail park but it's only open till midnight.:D
PS thanks to Derek and to Em for offering help, much appreciated.

Hope he's ok soon, and also everyone else. My son comes back from holiday tomorrow and all i keep thinking is, what is he going to pick up on that plane. Apparantly it's got a seven day incubation period, so if anyone who was incubating swine flu went for a seven day hol they will probably start suffering when they're due home.

Hope Reece is better soon, do you have to keep him isolated till he finishes the medication?
