I take each one as a separate entity, and vote for whoever I think is the best candidate, and don't slavishly support any one party...unlike some. ;) |

Councils, and governments might be made up of individually elected members, but they are divided by represenative parties, and it is those parties that decide who is going to govern. Therefore, as originally stated, I voted for two parties. ;) |

There's not much clear water between them. The Libs and the Cons have near enough become one. New Labour took on Conservative policies. Only the Labour government under Clem Attlee and the Conservative government under under Maggie Thatcher had radical policies which made them quite distinctive. |

People say , " I've voted Labour all my life or I've voted Conservative all my life." At elections a kind of tribal thing comes into play. I'm guilty of it myself. At the election I voted for Graham Jones but I don't support the policies of the present Labour Party. If I were true to my principles I should have abstained like at least one member of Accy Web had the honour to do.I respect him for it. Guess to a certain extent I'm influenced also by the argument that I have a duty to vote because of the past struggles of those who won me the right to vote. |

Are you a total imbecile? If you are suggesting that I voted for Peter Britcliffe because it was through him, as my councillor, that I secured the grant of £250.00 for the Hyndburn/Ribble Valley Parkinson's disease support group, you are a bigger fool than I thought. We were informed we would be getting funding way before the election, and the idea that my vote could be secured for financial gain is deeply, and personally offensive, to say the very least. As stated on election day, I voted for the candidates I thought would do the best job. Period. I'd be most interested if you'd care to clarify how you think my vote was made for 'self interest'. (...and yes, the karma deduction will be from me.) |
