Helping the country

Because of my eyesight problem I very rarely contribute nowadays but feel I must draw to your attention the fact that one of Accy Web`s oldest members ( 86) is helping this financialy strapped country to be able to have money available to look after asylum seekers. Since having both hips replaced 19 years ago my wife has had to cut my toenails. As she is now finding this difficult I applied for attention by our NHS and had my first appointment last Friday. My feet, after all these years, 4 of which were spent in Army boots, are in such good condition that I was refused a further appointment as the NHS can only afford to treat those with "bad" feet. Am looking for youg female volunteers -- blondes preferred.:) :) :)

Welcome back.

I though all those of pensionable age were entitled to free care fron a NHS chiropodist?

I get mine done, because I can no longer manage to do my toenails.

It should be free, for those over a certain age, and who have paid into the system, decade after decade.

Hope you get a willing lass do do your's.

It was a pleasure to speak to you recently.

You Sir, are one of lifes' true gents.

I totally agree, the Chiropodist comes to my place every 8 weeks, I used to go to the clinic on Union Road until I stopped driving some years ago. Besides that I am due my first home visit from the Community Dentist next Tuesday, they are from the pals centre I think.

Re: Helping the country

I get free NHS chiropody.
I just asked my doc when I turned 60, and it was arranged.
I do have grotesque feet and qualify for 'hospital supplied' shoes.
I have flat feet, bunions, and have had 'hammer toe surgery'(knuckle removal) on 3 toes.
When you are having chiropody, the chiropodist gets chatting, like hairdressers do.
At recent visits she has mentioned that the criterion for chiropody is being tightened up.
Diabetics get it regardless of the condition of their feet because of the need to maintain 'extremities' in good condition.
I get it because of foot deformity.

Re: Helping the country

The qualifying conditions for NHS chiropody are being tightened up.
At my chiropody appointment today I was questioned about the state of my health generally and which 'medications' are prescribed for me.

When I said that I had not seen my doctor for about 2 or 3 years and take no prescribed 'medicines', the chiropodist deemed me to be healthy.
Consequently, I will now need to use a private chiropodist.

In about 8 weeks time I will need my nails cut and a persistent callous trimmed.
If you can recommend a chiropodist who does home visits please let me know.

.

Go and see your doctor(if you haven't been knocked of their patients list), tell him what you are on and get him to book you somewhere else, you will always pay less via NHS than private.

I have just added you to my contact list so a PM will work now.
Your help is appreciated

Oh hek, you don't receive Private Messages... LOL.
Ok ... details here, sure will be OK.

(removed names and numbers as not allowed - Neil)

She does both my friend's and her elderly mums. Have been there when she did them and a lovely lady. Believe me, these two are very fussy .. they live in Ossy too.

I do know what she charges them, but wouldn't be fair to put up publicly, will probably have different rates for different treatments.

I won't be visiting my doc.
I am curing myself with alternative medicine - looks like I am succeeding too - the chiropodist said 'you have good circulation'

Your doc can only give advise and referral, but he could find something suitable without having to go into detail of what you suffer from or meds taken.

A doctor, dentist can only advise, it is upto the patient to make the decision. Maybe he could give you info rather than a website;)

All the best.

I know ... thought I may have been on your 'ignore list' at first.. :D

Sent details again now though, through a P.M., and a guide to what they are charged, but just ballpark to give you an idea.

If anyone is being abused by PM then please report it to me by PM including copies of the PM's and we sort it out for you.

Abusing members publicly or by PM, visitor message, karma etc is not allowed.

Its not right you have to limit who can PM you.
