Freedom Of The Borough

I admit to a bias here, perhaps it should be someone else suggesting it?
But the obbo' & Hyndburn Council want suggestions for deserving cases to be nominated for 'Freedom of the Borough', wouldn't Our administrator Roy be a name that could be put forward?
After all, what would the area be like in these modern times without our site.

(Less now wanders off expecting flak for having Fatherly pride).

I agree with you Less.......and why would you receive flak for having well justified fatherly pride?

Its the publics voice that counts. P.B dosnt control this site so to stop Roy getting a chance at it (which he should) is a slap in the face not just to us on here but the Accy public in general. I wonder if he hopes to get the honour?

If he's owt like a Son of mine, he will hate being put forward, so lets go for it.

Total agreement, this site is very much an essential & integral part of the town and certainly one area that is thriving.

The accy observer has teamed up with hyndburn council to ask our readers for nominations for the new round of honorary freemen awards. Nominations will be made via the area councils- as with last years hugely sucessful st georges day unsung hero awards. The awards will culminate with a special council meeting to confer the freedom sometime by the end of the year.

to receive a nomination form please call the area management team on 01254 380121 or you can email [email protected] with your address.

i hope people from outside hyndburn can nominate ...

I'm being serious here . There is a man called Jimmie who does the street cleaning in our area .
He's out in all kinds of weather .
He doesn't get a proper tea-break , a sit down and feet up in the warmth for ten minutes .
Two days in the week he has his dinner wherever he is cleaning , because it's too far from the depot .
I've never known him to miss work .
He has a smile and a few words for any who pass by .

It's to such as him to whom I would give the Freedom of the Borough .

For the record, I approve of the Freedom of the Borough awards and actually think they are a good idea to promote community values. My last post made it sound as if I don't.

So, in that case why did you use this thread as yet another opportunity to have a go at Britcliffe instead of putting something constructive in it?

Who do you think should be nominated?
