Alan Johnson does a runner
See that good old Al has decided he's not up to the task as Shadow Chancellor, not surprising really when he didn't even know the national insurance rate the other day, another Estel Morris, totally out of their depth

An orphan, brought up in a council flat, and who entered politics after years working as a postman. Makes rather a change from the plethora of public school educated, Oxbridge graduates, careerist politicans, who inhabit both sides of the chamber in the House of Commons nowadays. |

Maybe he thought it better to step back and let someone with more experience take over, rather than saying nowt and pocketing a good wage.

How boring. Retiring to 'spend more time with family' is usually a euphemism for something much more exciting. Forcing a resignation, before the story goes public. It can be something to do with the unnatural use of an orange, and a stocking. Well it did when politics was more glamorously sleazy. Instead of just sleazy. |
