Sentencing Is Too Severe
BBC News - Some England riot sentences 'too severe'
Some MPs and Civil Liberties groups (I said they would) are cleaning the sentences handed out to the two numpties who were trying to incite riots through Facebook, is to saver, whats your take on it. Well from my point they won't spend 4 years in the poky, so the sentence is right to me, and serves them bloody well right |
re: Sentencing Is Too Severe
My take on this is "Prosecute" those who are making the case fer too severe, fer "Aiding N Abetting" Looters/Rioters n such scum.

re: Sentencing Is Too Severe
The numpties were trying to incite riots by giving specific times and places to meet for rioting. It is claimed that the sentences are too severe because nobody turned up.
Surely the crime is exactly the same as if hundreds had turned up and rioted. 4 years sounds about right. |

Re: Sentencing Is Too Severe
You could call it 'Incitement to Riot'..
I wouldn't say it is too harsh, after all prisons are rather comfortable these days. Maybe Keel Hauling is too harsh...Mr Christian..... |

Notice that Lib-Dem M.P.s are questioning the severity of these sentences, Proving once again how outa touch wi mainstream society they are, these ******* should never be anywhere near Government IMHO, Perhaps they think Magistrates should award looters n that ilk a "Blue Peter" badge.

Re: Sentencing Is Too Severe
I was shocked when I read Teletext news yesterday & saw they'd been given 4 years, I was expecting they'd get 12 months community service, harsh, not at all its about damn time the courts started handing out proper sentences, which hopefully might act as a deterrent to others, but here's betting an appeal will be in before neext week & the sentences will be cut by at least half.

Re: Sentencing Is Too Severe
The sentences are about right in my opinion, its what these scumbags need, which is to know that THEIR actions or deeds have consequences that are not an all expenses paid for holiday or poxy community service. And its about time these liberal leftie dogooders learned to keep their gobs shut and not jump on the pc point scoring band wagon, makes you wonder if the were watching the same scenes on the news as us.So out of touch its beyond a joke.:mad:

If you want to check on the other thread on crime and punishment, re: riots and looting, then I'll post the solicitors hourly rates for the magistrates overnight sittings, plus the agreed barristers rates (at the crown courts) tomorrow. (both London & Provinces). Naturally, all legal aid and all paid for by the taxpayer. |

You dont automatically get legal aid, the criteria changed not that long ago its a lot more stringent now than it used to be. I made enquiries a few months back to see if I qualified but didn't, and one thing I didn't know which the solicitor told me, is any legal aid you do get has to be paid back, it isn't free as I always thought. |
Re: Sentencing Is Too Severe
I was under impression legal aid was given to anyone who is unemployed?
