Accrington doesn't have the smell of money on it does it? It has the reek of poverty.
As for Stag nights coming here.....which do you think sounds better?......'I'm taking the guys to Benidorm for my stag night' or 'We're going to a Lap dancing club in Accrington' The second one doesn't have a lot going for it does it?

We should be taking bets on how long it will last.

At the risk of turning into a complete bore on this subject, I completely agree with Margaret's comments here.
Accrington is a small town and to me a lap dancing club above a quite pleasant family friendly restaurant ( possibly the only one in central accrington) across from the town hall and right in the town centre is nothing like a similar club in London, Leeds or Manchester which are cities and can easily absorb such a club. I doubt it will last long anyway young people on stag do's would rather go to more sophisticated/exotic locations than Accrington town centre these days!

Its obvious the chap that's opening the joint must know more that us or why would he be going to the expense of setting up the place

There's a licensed sex shop, and also a sado-masochist dungeon, within three minutes walk of where this club is planning to open.

Never been to one myself, but from what I've heard, there's not much that goes on there, that differs much from the bump and grind, you see performed in most of Accy's late night pubs and clubs.

Girls dance half naked in front of people who pay, but who aren't allowed to touch.

Very similar to what Salome got up to in the Bible.

There's many more dirty acts being carried out behind net curtained suburban homes.

There's a prostitute from up Bash, who advertises she works from home.

I've not heard of any horses being frightened up there, by what she get up to behind closed doors.

If you are looking for one reason above all others for the decline in the borough, it is that...

White Flight.

They sure did A-B, it started in the 60s i recall, when the market n town were quite busy, fer me there are a few reasons fer the flight, certainly nowt to do wi the sex industry in any way, unless yeh include the Market Superintendent back then, who made gadaffi look like andy pandy, i recall in the mid 60s traders talking about doin one through him, never took much notice back then, cos i was a worker not a stallholder, various councils have also cocked up big time oer the years, so fer me whats happened has been a slow strangulation of a good little centre. i seem to recall also a Topless Pub on Abbey St in later years think twas Late 80s? never entered it so aint too sure of when, from what i recall hearing,it did ok at first (Novelty Value) but didn't really last that long, sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong, remember thinking at the time though accy aint so hot, the people aint so daft either, n thats what i strongly suspect will happen wi this lastet venture.;)

Next door to our M.P.'s office, Abbey St.

Inside town centre torture den - rack, stocks and a cage | Accrington Observer - menmedia.co.uk

Thinking about it, I think I read they'd moved their dungeon to where the old pet shop was in Ossy.

No I haven't been.

I don't need to pay, to be a right royal pain.

:D
