I thought it was 'Union', (singular)?

Wouldn'there have to be more that one engineering union(originally, that is) for them to call themselves 'amalgamated'???

Oh dear, what you have to consider is the title, singular represents 'solidarity', lots of unions amalgamated represents the mish mash of life.

I started my apprenticeship and had to join the EEPTU, ( Electrical Electronic & Plumbing Trade Union),
I was in Electronics, the union just after I came out of my time, sent around a form for electricians to go on a free course to bring them up to date with electronics, I asked if Under those circumstances I could have a free course in heavy current electrical work.
Go away in short jerky movements said they, I paid nothing else into that amalgamated union I can tell you.

Let us return to the plans to convert Accrington into the North West's equivalent of what is known in Amsterdam as Het Rossebuurt. For anyone of an entrepreneurial frame of mind the myriad of empty shops in Accy town centre provide a wonderful business oportunity. And believe you me, don't the tourists love it!

Ya you could just see all the shops on Church Street, with curtains on the windows strategically placed so they can be drawn very easily:D

The are now known as AEEU, amalgamated electrical & engineering union, many moons back I was shop steward for them when I worked at Lupton Bros. Anyway getting back on track, how many Accy webbers will be visiting the club just out of curiosity, I don't think for one minute any of you on here would be frequenting other than to report back on here how rubbish it is.
