Puzzled

I got a letter from Hyndburn Homes this morning, it was in reference to the repair work that has recently been done on the roofs of our block of flats. I was in the form of a tick box questionnaire. the first section was name and address, the second one was "gender" it said "Male" "Female" "Other" other!!!!!!!, it appears this problem with aliens on the canal is worse than we originally thought:D

Everyone should be encouraged to check "Other" ... that would really put Hyndburn on the map:D And if they also ask for "religion"; it might be a good time to put "Jedi Knight, Sunni branch."

By the way, a tour through any of the more tasteful porn sites, will show you at least one alternative: "She-male";)

I find they ask far too many questions that aren't needed on their forms, my street was part of a block re-furb, the area is much improved thank's to this.
They sent a Questionnaire, asking what I thought about it, I would gladly have filled it in had the final page not asked for sexual oriantation, ethnic background and religion, what on earth have those questions got to do with whether I'm happy with the new railings they have put in front of my house?

My mum got a form like that to fill in when she had a repair to her back door on Warwick Ave in Accrington. She's 85 and doesn't want to be bothered with that sort of thing.

I haven't got one. They daren't ask me because their 'performance objectives' score would be seriously dented.

If, and according to the law we are all equal and must not discriminate. Then it doesn't matter if I'm a Chinese homosexual that worships at the gates of hell itself or a white male aethiest that has to pleasure himself because he is too old and ugly to find someone to do it for him, both our answers to the relevent questions must carry the same weight. So these 'extra' questions should never need to be asked.

Re: Puzzled

Last week I binned a questionnaire which was thicker and more detailed(intrusive) than the census - that one was from NHS.

Re: Puzzled

why do they need to know gender of teh person who had the repair. Is it so that if theres a complaint they will know that either ...

A: a blokes probably tried to address the issue with a butter knife and a tin of beans but made it worse

b: if its a woman its probably not as bad as is been made out but the repair will haunt every repair man that turns up by been mentioned for the next 10 years

:D

It matters to us, so lets be knowing, we know you are not chinese, so are you a white male?

The last questionair i filled out from the NHS was pre operation and it basically took thousands of words to say that if they kill you then tough luck.

why they cant just put something like "we will do our best but if things go wrong you cant sue us" i dont know :)

I still haven't heard anyone come up with a viable explanation for Other being included in the Gender section of this document:confused:

There may be a small number of hermaphrodites in the British population - perhaps the answer lies there with the "Other" option.

So that they can have Social Services on 24 hour call out?

It must be very confusing not knowing if you need the toilet seat up or down.

Eunochs could also tick the other box I suppose -but would you want people from the council to know, that is the question...

Well to my way of thinking when your born it says on your birth certificate your gender, either Male or Female, didn't know they had come up with another category, even the PC brigade:confused:

Maybe someone from Hyndburn Homes could enlighten us.

It's a simple enough question, which we know you have the answer to.

What percentage of residents of Oswaldtwistle who consider themselves to be neither male or female are satisfied with the roofing repairs you carried out?

And a couple of supplementaries.

Is this percentage in line with your targets, and if not, what do you propose to do about it?

Could be transgender? Although why they want to know I've no idea, other than perhaps to provide stastistics and to tick some box required to prove that they are meeting diversity targets.

My problem is this, on a birth certificate it says Male or Female, until the word other appears why is there any need for anything else.

I would like to think that if any parent ever tried to register their baby's birth as 'other', the little mite would be taken straight into care!

Yes, and perhaps a doctor should look at the person that put 'other' into the form as well, unless they have a personal reason for putting it in? In which case should we allow anyone that would answer a gender question with other, to compile a questionnaire?
:)

Questionnaires are one of the few things that annoy me.
When compelled to answer (the census), I just provide silly answers to mess up their statistics.

It's definitely to do with being politically correct, perhaps everyone should return it with 'other' ticked and see what happens!
And if they were thinking about transgender people, I would have thought they would put down the sex they've changed to after all the trouble they've gone to, so it's stupid and pointless - but I suppose it's keeping someone in a job!
