Where have the blogs gone
I have just logged on with the intention of writing an episode of my blog….but they have gone.
Where are they? |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
What address was your blog?
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Now you are asking something there Roy….it was just part of the Accyweb forum.
I am also getting a ‘Debug’ box when I log in and my avatar is missing I have a Vbulletin sign instead. I will be sorry if the blogs are lost forever. They were something I read to keep my Ma and memories of her in my mind. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Thank you for responding Roy.
I was going to attach a screenshot of this message but my advanced options do not allow me to add pictures. So something is wrong somewhere…because previously I have been able to do that. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
I’m also getting a debug box.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Thank you Roy…I don’t know what you have done but the blogs are back…..many many thanks.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
…and the debug box has gone.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
We have moved servers and upgraded the software, so there may be a few bugs about and things not quite working right, let me know and we will work on it!
Thanks all! |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Thank you Roy..you are a star!
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Thanks, Roy, I’d noticed the bugs too but, thanks to Margaret and you, it’s been sorted quickly.:)
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
May have spoken too soon.
It’s not that important but I lost the avatar image I’d used and can’t install a replacement (it’s a tiny file within the guidelines). Keep trying but it doesn’t ‘update’ with a new image. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
My avatar has gone too…I have chosen one from those on offer, but once things settle I will choose something that is more ‘ME’.
This is not really a gripe…just an observation. Oh and I did not do anything except ask the question…it was Roy who sorted it out. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Oh dear I may have spoke too soon….the blog list is there but no blogs attached and as yet unable to add to my blog.
A work in progress perhaps. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Yes, my avatar went as well, even though going to my edit profile page it's still showing that I'm using a custom avatar.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
I think we might just have to be a bit patients.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Still no blogs and no ability to post to a blog even though the blog category appears on the forum page…when you choose the option you can see the blog list but nothing loads.
Sorry Roy….not nit picking. I suppose it takes time to repopulate the new server. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Margaret,
Bit patients?? Are those people whose Internet Service is feeling poorly? ;-) -Joe |

More Joe, I posted this comment on my iPad…sometimes it second guesses words and puts what it thinks you mean. I know what I typed so I did not check it.
So the answer to your question is a solid NO….and I am exercising a LOT of patience with everything these days. So if anyone knows where I can buy a lorry load, please send me a PM with the details because I need more. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Sorry M,
Believe me, I fully understand the joys of Spellchecker and Autocorrect. I refer to them as Spellchuck and Autocorrupt. The output is sometimes funny though? -Joe |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Yes you are right….frequently my iPad thinks it can read my mind….really?
It would need to live a loooong time to do that. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Roy also yeh cant see who has Liked any posts when yeh click on them
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
also am unable to read peoples blogs.

No Taddy he doesn’t need to go to the bottom of the class…it is the iPad that needs to do that.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Still no access to the actual blogs, but I can see a list of the blogs.
I know it is probably a monumental task to repopulate a new server and I would not have a clue as to how to go about this…but I am finding it difficult to think of a reason to keep on coming to the forum. Loathe as I am to give it the flick….I am getting pretty close to that point. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Blogs? I used to wear them when I got my first job at Redac Brickyard in the village they were made of wood with iron horse shoes nailed on the soles, brilliant footwear.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Are you sure that you aren’t talking about CLOGS Taddy?
I am talking about blogs….these are online journals…and mine were (they tell me) a good read. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Margaret, I also find it a disappointment when I come on the forum these days.. I normally start my day with a good cup of coffee and a look in at the site. I used to look forward to reading people’s opinions and joining in with the conversations, but mostly nowadays football takes preference over every other subject. Unless a person is interested in the round ball there doesn’t seem to be much else to read about, nothing else being discussed.
While I appreciate the importance this game is to many people, and am happy they have found an outlet for sharing their views, why aren’t more subjects being debated in the way they used to be? When a new thread is started it seems to be over and done with in less time than it took Shane Long to kick the opening goal in a Southampton versus Watford game, which just happens to be the fastest Premier League goal in history (7.69 seconds). (I thought if I mentioned a soccer fact then more members would read this post). Seriously though, there seems to be little interest shown in new threads when members do bother to start these. Where is everybody? Let’s get more debating going. |

Yes, I know you are the Lancashire Luddite, but I thought you were up for being educated.
And I really do miss writing my blog….and there have bern a number of very interesting events in my life recently. I wanted to document them for posterity, but can’t do it….so Pretty Please Roy….Can I have my blog back. I promise I won’t kick it over your garden wall again. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
This is also something I've noticed on Accrington (Stanley) Web, which is what it may as well be called. I'm male (60) and have zero interest in football, either now, the past or the future and when I open the forum and all I see is 4-8 Stanley Posts everyday I just click away.
I'm not sure what the solution is as both Dotti and Margaret have said that none football topics get little interest and are soon buried among football threads. And still no resolution the blog problem or the personal avatar image..... |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Yes Ryewolf, you are spot on. It seems like the site is being kept open just for those who follow Stanley.
I feel sure some of those who post to these threads must have other interests in their lives, but post to not much else other than Stanley….yes there are exceptions…Cashy and Exile being posters to other threads. But Accyweb is not the place it used to be and has little that interests me. Especially now the blogs have disappeared. My blogs were for me as much as for anyone else to read….they were my online diary. |

Re: Where have the blogs gone
I documented all of my trips with Ma….and so they were important….also I liked to document my trials and tribulations so that I could look back if only to see how far I have come.
The recent stuff with my old feller was only half documented so I wanted to bring that up to date…and I know that Roy will be busy, but if he can put them back for us, then I would be very happy and it would give me some reason for coming on the forum. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone

The problem is anyone new looking at the forum would probably assume that it's a Stanley football forum and if you don't like football you're not going to join. If all you see in Today's Posts, week in week out, is football related it hardly encourages you to post about anything else. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Ryewolf, I think you have hit the nail on the head. People are probably looking in but not bothering to stay because there isn’t anything there of interest to them. May I respectfully make a suggestion though that instead of giving up on it we all try to think of interesting topics, subjects that can be debated. Threads that will invoke some heated discussion, the more heated the better. The way it used to be.
There must be lots of interesting subjects out there that could be introduced to make people sit up and take notice, joining in with the discussion, adding their comments, thus keeping things going a bit longer that they do at present. Unfortunately if new topics are not introduced then the situation is going to stay as is. More’s the pity. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
In another month or so I will be digging, sowing and planting, must keep the (now seventy six year old) body moving a bit otherwise I may not see seventy seven then, instead of being bored with football you can be bored with Taddies Allotment Tales.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Bring it on Taddy.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Taddy, I think I asked you this once before if I remember rightly – if anyone has any gardening queries maybe they could ask you for advice once you start your thread. It wouldn’t be me though, I leave gardening to others. I swear that plants hide when they see me coming. My botanist grandson collected some succulents for me and said ‘you won’t be able to kill these, grandma’. My gardening prowess is well known. I envy you yours.

Re: Where have the blogs gone
Like you Dorothy, I have no green thumb.
It was once said of me that I could kill silk plants with neglect…but I can grow weeds! |

Re: Where have the blogs gone
Less thank you for that information.
I felt sure that Roy would be taken up doing stuff to keep the bills paid. I have to say that there are some of us who DO try to post threads that should have some interest, but alas they disappear very quickly, so it must be that what we are posting is perhaps not as interesting as we thought. It does not stop us from trying. Anyway I am off now to post a thread that might interest others and I feel pretty sure that it will be helpful to some of the forum…mainly us coffin dodgers. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Oh yes, and I hope you DO join in.
It would be very good to read what you think and it would (no doubt) stimulate interest. |

It wasn't a complaint, more of an observation that Stanley related threads have 297,762 posts compared to 338,270 posts in General Chat Forum and that Stanley related threads seem to get more traction on the forum. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Less, it doesn’t really matter how many Stanley threads there are, what matters is there are never enough other threads going. You are right, we must all do our bit to make it interesting and to encourage more contributors.
By the way, I am sorry Roy won’t have time to drop in. I would have given him a reet nice cup of tay, would have been happy to make him a brew, and maybe would have thrown in a chip butty for good measure. Never mind, he’ll never know what he’s missing. One more thing, we are real folk too….. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone

I would suggest that the Stanley site hasn't increased their number of posts just they are probably the same as they were. What is obvious is AccyWeb posts have decreased, this can't possibly be blamed on the Stanley Forum it is due to the lack of input from us, the remaining members. Right I leave you now I've found life out there far more stimulating than life on here, if you ever crack the problem (and you won't do that by blaming others) I might bob back occasionally, do enjoy. :alright: |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Less, you are right in what you say about the posts to the Stanley part of the forum LOOKING to be more because there is less participation in the other part of the forum.
And while you are telling us that we should be posting threads and posts, you yourself are saying that you might pop in from time to time to see if there is anything of interest. Well, that is not exactly what you are telling us we should be doing….and yes, you will tell E that it is your personal choice, but if we all do what you are going to do then there WILL be nothing to come on the site for….unless of course you are a football fan. You have in the past, been a great poster and although I may not agree with your thoughts on things, I always found your viewpoint interesting. We need more people with diverse views on topics of the day, coming and posting. People like you. You find life out there more stimulating than on here…..yet you blame the remaining members for this…..you are one of those too. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
There are far less posts on the stanley forum these days, people that dont use it would not be aware of it i think.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Cashy, there are less posts all round but the proportion of thread are to the Stanley part of the forum….because that is what interests those posters.
There are those of us who have bern here a while that have little interest in football and it makes it hardly worth visiting when you see only posts to Stanley. I have tried posting threads that might get some posts, but they disappear pretty quickly. Obviously, they must have no merit in the Stanley circle. |

Thanks Taddy…that made me chuckle on a grey old day.

Re: Where have the blogs gone
To read that you are leaving is extremely disappointing, Less. It’s like don’t do what I do, do as I say, telling people they should contribute to keep the forum going but not intending to do so yourself..
I also think some of your comments are disrespectful to contributors to the forum when you imply that what they write is of little consequence and dull as against the stimulating company you find elsewhere, I suppose over a pint at the local. (Probably a waste of time writing this because is he has left the building then Less won’t read it). Still it’s everyone’s prerogative to stay or go, and so be it. I will point out that I personally am able to mix with stimulating people on the outside and I can still add my bit to the forum when I’m home. Doesn’t have to be one thing or the other with me. It’s not hard to do. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
I am not sure that Less means he is leaving, as such, but just that the forum plays a very minor part in his life.
I also agree that you can have a life of stimulating conversation outside the forum and also participate in a good discussion here on Accyweb. Well, that is if people continue to post…if they do not then it will become Accystanleyweb. And that would be a bit of a shame. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Nope not leaving, just taking a rest from all the lack of AccyWeb posts being blamed on Accy Stanleys doorstep whether intentional or none intentional!
Here's something to mull over, next month (March) will be AccyWebs 20th anniversary and not long after that will be the 20th anniversary of the Stanley forum being proudly welcomed into the AccyWeb fold. To celebrate lets have a month of no moaning about our long term internet partners? Quote:
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Dotti don't let it bother you, "some people are (sad), Whilst others are classed as (sad people)
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Less, I do not think anyone was moaning…well, not as such….and if it was moaning, well like having an opinion, it is allowed.
When a Briton stops moaning about things (in general) it means they are dead. |

Re: Where have the blogs gone
That is a great achievement, Less, that the forum has been going for so long, and congratulations to Roy and all the contributors over the years who have made it happen. It’s also a good suggestion about a month of no ‘moaning’ as you put it though ‘comparing’ is a more appropriate word, but how about making it also month of aiming for a number of new threads and posts in BOTH the Stanley section and the general one, to help revitalise the site. By the way, by saying this I am not telling people what to do, but just like you I am only suggesting.
I still think it is disappointing that you are taking a break. In my opinion this is non-productive - you might not agree, but this is a forum where we can agree to disagree and where I am allowed to voice my opinion. No hard feelings. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Taddy don’t fret on my behalf, it’s like water off this old duck’s back, and I enjoy every bit of it. It helos to keep the old brain cells ticking.
|
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Less, no one is trying to denigrate the Stanley part of the forum.
As far as I can see, no one is saying that they do not accept the Stanley part of the forum. What is being said is that for some of us(that includes me) it holds no interest. So participation is out of the question for me. If I had some grasp of the game then I would feel ‘included’….but I don’t…..so the feeling is one of being excluded. You will tell me that this my problem, not a problem for the forum. I have been a poster on here for almost 19 years, I have (I think) posted sensibly on lots of topics and I have enjoyed being able to participate. So coming to the forum and being unable to participate in the threads that are current leaves me feeling ‘homeless’…but again, not your problem is it? We (a few of us) try to post stuff that might get some responses, but these threads and posts sink without a trace very quickly. It isn’t that we are not trying….we are, but it makes no difference. Anyway it is what it is. |

Re: Where have the blogs gone
Sadly the answer to most of this chat is our dwindling circle of friends and acquaintances.
Several of our colorful crew have shucked off their mortal coil leaving us to grumble among the remaining stalwarts. I know we lost Susie with whom I once attended school, and Jaysay with whom I did not. I miss Eric who vanished into the unknown years ago, anyone know if he is still upright? I am certainly no major contributor but I try to chip in once in a while with something interesting or funny. (Especially funny) I am often surprised at getting little or no response to some posts, and since I have had a few of them relocated by others I guessed that I blew it? Can someone please 'splain the differences amongst "General Chat" "Anything Goes" "General Community Chat" etc. and recommend where to post for the widest audience? You would think I knew after all these years?? WRONG! By the way "All you kids Get Off My Lawn!" Sincerely, Joe (More decrepit by the day) |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
I think Eric sadly passed.
I used to have good contact with him and every winter I know the critters will definitely miss Eric because he looked after the strays in his neighbourhood….and fed the raccoons when the winters were very hard. I miss him. Jaysay and Susie too are much missed and we must not forget Mick…what a grand chap he was….so yes we are a dwindling band, but many of the younger contributors migrated over to Hyndburn Chat on Facebook. Membership of that was by invitation(not sure if it still is) I do not ‘do’ Facebook so I do not know. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
I also do not do Facebook or Snapchat or Tik Tok and any other blithering "Social Sites".
Since I am in hiding from the NVA, the KGB, Stassi (oops did I say that out loud?) I am not trolling for new friends or followers I am trying to remember the old ones and wonder if they are still ticking? So my browsing and blathering are becoming fewer and further between and one day there I will be.... gone! -Joe |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
As for accepting an invite to Hyndburn Chat I follow the dictum of Groucho Marx.
I would not join any club that would accept me as a member. -Joe |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Morejo don’t take the lack of response to some of your posts and/or threads personally because it happens to all of us. Even my attempts at making people laugh via the jokes I regularly contribute seem to fall on deaf ears at times, which is a shame because, as they say, laughter is the best medicine. I think the last joke I put on disappeared within a day or so. However, I’m a stubborn old chook and I don’t let this bother me nor will I let it stop me posting, like it or lump it.
The mention of those wonderful people who were such great contributors to the site but are sadly no longer with us, brings back many memories. They were also very brave when sharing their final journeys with us. It was like losing a family member when they passed away. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
Regarding your question, Morejo, others will know the answer better than me, but I have always assumed that General Community Chat covers Council matters and anything directly concerning the area and the residents, General Chat is for most matters that don’t come under other headings, matters of general interest that invite further comments or that can be debated (oh, yes! PLEASE bring them on), while Anything Goes is for more flippant matters - for instance jokes, etc. I stand to be corrected.

by the way ... does this mean i can blame accyweb for the streaks of grey hair that is now poking through ... :D:D:D

Re: Where have the blogs gone
Jen I have been here 19 years.
I could never get to the meets, but was. Always hopeful that ‘one day’. The chat room…well I ‘fell’ into that one night and I have never laughed so much in all my life….it was a hive of hilarity. But I was not great on the keyboard back then, so by the time I had typed my reply, the conversation had moved on. It was a great place to be and a good stress reliever. |
Re: Where have the blogs gone
just read out this to the spugster ... and he said he remembers when they put the chat bot in the chat room .. and how him and tinks got it confused!!!!
