"It takes two ba-ee-bee"
What type of simple jobs do you find difficult do you just on yer own ?
No, not lifting something heavy or anything. Like just now, my 'inside' black bin liner, which I stuff into a kitchen swing bin type receptacle got jammed. Now the quality of the bin liner left much to be desired .. kept ripping as I tried to pull it out. Really needed someone to hold down the bin, whilst I pulled out the bin liner and it's contents. Nowt for it but to empty nearly all the contents into a new black bag to get out ... grrrrh. Like getting things up the loft, someone to hand up someone to receive. Presume if no replies to this thread, then just me not being very imaginative. :( |

Folding a king size sheet. That's much easier if there's someone to hold the other end for you. Also if you're measuring something like a wall or a window it's easier if there's someone else there to hold the other end of the tape.

Fastening some bracelets .. never do it sometimes and have to wear another. The common one of fastening the last button on the back of a dress, to say nothing of that little hook at the top ! |

When you are mowing the grass and having to empty the grass box on it into a bin bag - you always empty half of it onto the lawn. You see something you fancy for tea - and it only comes for 2 people and its one of those meals you cant split in two before cooking and you cant reheat it. Theres loads isnt there when you think about it!!! :D |
Re: "It takes two ba-ee-bee"
I have struggled to think, but now remember when I was fitting new doors on my kitchen cupboards. At the time I thought I just need someone to hold this door while I get 2 of the screws in. Solved it by wedging the doors in place with a pile of books on the worktop and floor. A bit of lateral thinking helps. I conclude that a man is only handy to have if you like ballroom dancing.

Re: "It takes two ba-ee-bee"
Yep, done the lawn bit Shillelagh, and that blooming garden bench last year, couldn't fit the planks between the two iron ends .. definintely had to engage some help on that one !!

Re: "It takes two ba-ee-bee"
As someone posted earlier, folding wet sheets is a pain when you are by yourself.
Other than that, being self suficent is quite satisfying.:D |

Another one shortly to come up is, I will have to put up two new curtain rails, now OK screwing the holdings in, but as length is far beyond my arm spam, how am I going to get the rail clippped on without it bending wobbling about on the first few fastenings ? |
Re: "It takes two ba-ee-bee"
Putting the duvet inside the cover is a two person job.
Getting two children ready for school is definitely a two man job - we see it as being part of a tag team. |

I manage to put a king size cover on my duvet alone.....I just use two spring clip clothes pegs to help. Folding a king size sheet......I do that while it is still on the line. |

A little aside I know, but 'tis my thread so feel justified. :p My brother just reminded me of this little song by Flanders and Swann as he was trying to sort out why one of my sockets wasn't working, may have been some disturbance by the decorator .. don't think so though, but not prepared to get my floor boards taken up to sort, will have to find somewhere else to plug in my hairdryer, curling tongues and straightners:- The Gas Man Cometh - Flanders and Swann 'Twas on a Monday morning the gas man came to call. The gas tap wouldn't turn - I wasn't getting gas at all. He tore out all the skirting boards to try and find the main And I had to call a carpenter to put them back again. Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do. 'Twas on a Tuesday morning the carpenter came round. He hammered and he chiselled and he said: "Look what I've found: your joists are full of dry rot But I'll put them all to rights". Then he nailed right through a cable and out went all the lights! Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do. 'Twas on a Wednesday morning the electrician came. He called me Mr. Sanderson, which isn't quite the name. He couldn't reach the fuse box without standing on the bin And his foot went through a window so I called the glazier in. Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do. 'Twas on a Thursday morning the glazier came round With his blow torch and his putty and his merry glazier's song. He put another pane in - it took no time at all But I had to get a painter in to come and paint the wall. Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do. 'Twas on a Friday morning the painter made a start. With undercoats and overcoats he painted every part: Every nook and every cranny - but I found when he was gone He'd painted over the gas tap and I couldn't turn it on! Oh, it all makes work for the working man to do. On Saturday and Sunday they do no work at all; So 'twas on a Monday morning that the gasman came to call... :D:D Sure you all been there at times. |

Re: "It takes two ba-ee-bee"
I know one job that needed three of us - the "easy self assembly" garden shed which we used to have. Like a giant meccano kit but you were supposed to hold one bit up whilst bolting another bit on that was a good six feet away!!!!
|
Re: "It takes two ba-ee-bee"
Most self assembly kits are a 'team' job...and often you need an interpreter to define and explain the instructions....although at our house we call them 'destructions' for a variety of reasons.
