Open letter to U.S. Citizens

I have recently been given an advance copy of a memo being sent to the people of America from the Home Office. I must share the good news with you all.......

That letter was doing the rounds 4 years ago, as was the reply.

I unfortunately do not have a copy of said reply to hand. I am sure it is available on the net somewhere though...

You should learn to distinguish the British and Australian accents. It really isn't that hard. British accents are not limited to Cockney, upper-class twit or Mancunian (Daphne in Frasier).
How true. When I was working in York, Pennsylvania, a few years ago, I was constantly asked this question. Once the conversation went like this:

"Where you from, Australia?"
"Nope," I said.
"You must be from England then."
"Yes." I replied.
"You drive here then?"
At this point, I bit my tongue, and said, "No, I flew here."
I so much wanted to say I rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, but my inquisitor probably wouldn't have understood the irony or sarcasm of my answer.
...kin' retard!

Reminds me of the one when Charlotte Church met George W Bush. He asked her where she was from. She told him Wales.

"What State is that in?" was the reply...
