Ernest St Chapel improvements

A few piccies of Ernest St Chapel in Church (built 1868)
The interior view will shortly not be possible as a new upper floor is being put in over the summer, along with a lift for access. a lot of interior work has already been done, and also work on the grounds since the school hall was demolished. May be of particular interest to those of you who went to the old school! Once the work on the floor is finished, the Church will be upstairs, and the lower floor will be used for all the community groups which meet there. |

Interesting to see inside the Church Cazzer. Its a place of worship I have never been to.

Re: Ernest St Chapel improvements
I'm just curious about something. You say the chapel will be upstairs. Are they going to install a lift for disabled church members?

Re: Ernest St Chapel improvements
I remember going there as a kid........not that often, being a catholic...but it was used as a community centre (before the term was phrased), back in the early '60's. It's good to see this splendid building being developed to use to it's full potential.

Nice touch the floodlights.
The back has a modern feel, whilst the front preserves the history. It looks inviting, and shows someone looks after it, and loves it. A good example of what can be done. |

A lot of the work which has been done, and is to be carried out, is by the people who use it. They try hard to be a 21st century Church and are constantly trying to find ways to be involved with the community. I find it interesting (touch wood) that the mural on the back wall, which was done last year, as yet has no signs of graffiti. Kids from the area were invited to do little parts of it. Off the top of my head, some of the groups using the hall at the present time are: Boys' Brigade, Girls' Brigade, Youth Fellowship, D of E group, Mums & Tots, Keep fit, Music Groups, etc. Agreed Tealeaf, it is a splendid building, and now makes a great Church landmark, especially at night! |
