The back of Black Abbey street? If it is I seem to remember they couldn't afford colour round there so the pictures right.

Yep, correct Less! Its the back alley behind the old shops in Black Abbey Street. What a mess some of them are now. These two shops in particular are very very old, and are what were known as "cellar dwellings" - a family lived upstairs and a family lived "downstairs" in the cellar part. Their access would be from the back alley. I have once been in these old premises, whilst on a guided historical tour of Accrington.

It's such a shame that we are losing a lot of the old interesting parts of the town. I don't suppose it will be long before these end up demolished.
