flickr allows you to look at a variety of camera's and from there you can decide whether the pics are any good or not....I think that the exif data would be useful if you had a DSLR.
This explains it far better than I ever could......check out the link. What is EXIF Data? |

Re: 3D Panoramic Pics
I've noticed with the photo's you lads are putting in they seem to be horseshoed which detracts a little from the end result. I take it this is because the camera doesn't auto-compensate for the distances, can it not be done manually ?

On 120* very little distortion, and 360* you, in effect, meet yourself on the way around, if you understand. I don't like the 360* for that fact. I tend to use the 120* but use the 180* with wide open spaces |

Todays perambulations took me from Clayton to Church to Rishton to Gt. Harwood back to Rishton then up the main road to Clayton;
1. Looking towards Rishton from St. James Church, Church. 2. Between Church and Rishton, looking down on Hyndburn Brook. 3. Still between Church and Rishton, looking towards Pendle on the left and the Coppice on the right. 4. Tottleworth Road, old railway bridge Gt. Harwood end. 5. Ford on Tottleworth Road. 6. Looking towards Coppice from entrance to Rishton Clayshoot. Then home for a wipe down with some WD40. |

Todays offerings address the question D.I.G posed as to why some panoramic shots are horseshoe shaped.
The shots are all the same subject, Scaitcliffe Lodge/Woodnook Water. 1. 2. & 3. photos are banana shaped and 4. 5. & 6. are more the correct perspective. My theory is this, as the camera takes a selection of shots when panning the camera, the stitching together is done automatically internally, so any straight lines from left to right appear bent in order to combine it into a viewable photo. 4. 5. & 6. have straight lines front to back, this will probably be within one of the photos taken and when combined maintain the perspective. Well thats what I think, I submit the photos for perusal, and observations would be welcome as to my theory. My head hurts! |

I think panoramics are a compromise though as it passes through differing light conditions then tries to rationalise it. It is just a presentation of a scene, you cant be artistic. |

Re: 3D Panoramic Pics

The first question is what do you want to do with it, macro, panoramic,multi shot, compact (pocket), different lenses (round your neck), when you have answered this question then you can look for a camera. Then you compare prices, and finally go and buy it. You will be too tired to go out and take pictures after that. |

Todays pictures are similar to ones I have uploaded before the only difference is the season.
1. through to 6. view from Clayton, Rishton on the left and Gt. Harwood on the right in the distance. 7. Is a view of the land beyond the tree line earmarked for building on the Junction 7 complex. 8. Is the view of the Dunkenhalgh land adjacent to Dunkenhalgh Way, you can just see the car park in the distance. |

The panoramics are from the base of Hameldon. 1. The Coppice if off to the right, Accy just off center. 2. Looking toward Haslingden. 3. Same as first photo, just from a different position. |
Re: 3D Panoramic Pics

Todays walk was something of a "lets see where that goes" so setting off.
1. On a footpath going past Accy tip, just as I was taking a panoramic shot they set off a batch of bird scarer's, both scaring the birds, my dog, and me. Thats why all the birds are in flight. 2. Turning away from the tip I crossed the motorway and took this shot. 3. Heading down to a stone bridge to cross the canal, very close to Altham industrial site, and the boat repair yard. 4. Following the footpath down to the canal. 5. Heading home and looking back at the quarry site on Hameldon. |

On my camera there is the option to choose how much panoramic you can take, it starts with 120 degrees, then 180 degrees, and finishes with a full 360 degrees. Its difficult to view them on the rear screen of the camera as the format doesnt fit the screen, its only when you upload them to your computer that you get to see the full picture. Is that what you wanted to know, if not get back to me. |
