Nice action photos shillelagh, I missed the re enactment on Sunday PM, my train got into Rawtenstall just after they had cleaned the track up and the soldiers disbanded.

I really had a good day out at Bury, Ramsbottom and back to Rawtenstall where my car was parked.
The entertainment on the platforms at Bury and Rawtenstall with people joining in the songs was really good. As my train pulled out they all waved and sang "Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye".

1. Start point, the signal box at Huncoat.
2. A left turn takes you into the Colliery site.
3. Some fragments of buildings remain, but not enough to say what they were.
4. Taking a right turn over a style, it opens up to huge area.
5. Wild flowers abound.
6. Not many Buttercups though.
7. Grass seed heads, I have no idea what variety.
8. Mayflowers.
9. I found a wooded stream.
10. A hidden gem, that requires a return visit.

I have used my allocation for today, so as I will be busy for the next two days will post the remainder then, the stream and beyond. (check the panoramic thread for a few more)

Lovely selection of photos Dave - apparently the signal box may soon be being demolished so those photos may be some of the last ones of it! I love the delicate Mayflowers and that banking full of bluebells really is a hidden gem - beautiful! :thankya:

Just a few photos of yesterday evening's sunset -lovely colours.

I like the way the solar panels on the barn roof turned red too, reflecting the sky in the last pic.

The photo of the stockings is great!

Got my bike back today and rode over to the other side of Castelverde to Regione Fornace where there are some beautiful old mill houses. There's a view to Cremona (about 2.5km as the crow flies) where the tall tower you can see is right in the center of town. All the other shots show the mill house area. They have an interesting collection of old agricultural machinery, a restored gun from WW2 and one of the old mill wheels in the gardens of the mill. My son has been inside as his friend's girlfriend lives there -he told me the old millstones are inside the house as a feature.

Glad you are back to fitness, interesting selection of guns, water wheels and other stuff. The architecture is very photogenic.
