Well, the dismal day has given you some dramatic pictures.
I sometimes think that pictures like this are more interesting, and have a greater dimension(for want of a better word) to them......sometimes sunshine takes colour and impact away from the subject.

Lovely pics all - have enjoyed seeing them. Highlight of my day was the flock of sheep, I've seen around lately, being moved along the lane outside the house. My son called me to see them and the bloomin' batteries in my camera had gone :( Typical - the rechargeable ones are still boxed up somewhere! Lovely to hear the bells on the donkeys and see the shepherd and his son work with their dogs. Had a short walk after lunch and have found some great vantage points for future photos :) x

Not sure, but it was in the middle of a drift of waxcaps, and it is damaged so your guess is as good as any.

Dave... I was joking - just look at the pic, damage and all and then picture a fireman from the back view.

It did cross my mind, I also though of a policemans helmet, but thats another joke, however as I had no idea, I was easily persuaded, but I prefer your identification, so thats what it is.

Beautiful pics Dave......I can smell the damp earth and the trampled leaves.
It has been a lovely day.....if a bit wet underfoot.

Going down on one knee to take snaps gives me a wet and muddy patch on my trousers, my wife thinks I do Al Jolson impressions when I am out.

Beautiful! We've had snow squalls and multi car pileups just 100 miles north of where I am.
It does me good to see lovely Lancashire :)

The view from my balcony this morning- yes, that's a thin layer of ice on the pond. And no green left - just a few brown stubborn oak leaves. Ah well, spring is only 5 months away :)
