Today in Pictures, into the Valley of Stone to visit Troy Quarry, Not somewhere I knew about, I was pointed to it on Hyndburn Chat. So into the unknown today, even though I have visited other quarries in the area.

1. Given a choice of two paths, I chose the least muddy, and that was muddy enough.
2. Looking back down the path we came up, Musbury Heights in the distance.
3. The destination for today, Troy Quarry.
4. Looking in the direction of the turbines, the tips are vanishing in the mist.
5. I couldn't resist a closer look.
6. At this point I am putting the willies up myself. don't look down, don't look down, don't look down.
7. Yes, I have decided its a long way down.
8. Time to lose a bit of height.
9. Down in the quarry, I'm not as dizzy down here.
10.Time to wash two very dirty and stinky dogs before getting back in the car.

A really interesting place! I particularly like numbers 6 and 7.

At the time it felt a bit precarious.

After seeing my video of photospheres and you have seen my tiny planet pics that are created from the photospherers.... this video has majorly impressed me. What do you think? This 360° Video Shot With 6 GoPro Cameras Will Blow Your Mind

Today in Pictures, it was a day of contrasts, sunny bits and rainy bits, I thought I had gone out in a sunny bit, but it turned to a very wet bit pretty rapidly.

1. This rain is turning things very green.
2. The green bits here are a carpet of bluebells, no flowers yet.
3. Top end of Hameldon woods, with Hapton Quarry in the distance.
4. It must be damp around here there is a carpet of moss.
5. & 6. a couple of wet bits.
7. 8. & 9. new leaves in the rain.

I particularly like number four - the contrast of the green mossy wall with the brown leaves and smooth tree trunk. I love the fresh green beech leaves too. I bet you couldn't take number 6 without getting a good dowsing!

Cool! I liked the first bit on the bicycle best. I see where you're coming from now, with your 360 degree stills :)

This fellow visited our feeder last week: a Pileated Woodpecker. They make a terrific racket when pecking at the neighbouring trees. Sorry not to be able to get a better shot, but he was very wary. I had to shoot this through the window glass. The slightest movement from me, and he was off!
