Thank you Margaret. I thought of you with a couple of these, and how you can add colour selectively and beautifully. It would have been out of line for me for this particular challenge though :)

Yes, Frank. I lived in number 4 Heights Cottages, around 1963. There was no indoor loo, but a communal one for the row of cottages. No bath even. And no hot water - my Dad had to get us an immersion heater. I remember taking a 'bath' in the kitchen sink.
My sister was born there in one of the two bedrooms. I heard everything that transpired that night. Primitive conditions for a baby to come into the world, by our standards these days anyway :)

1. A walk around Hameldon Woods reveals a lot of downed trees.
2. There has to be a wet bit.
3. Beech are the only tree still with a few leaves, apart from the evergreens of course.
4. Silver Birch show off their bark, it gets lost when the leaves are out.
5. The wood, a wall and a wet bit, I don't think I am in Narnia though.
6. Baubleicious and if you look carefully you can see a little fat chap.
7. Top edge of the quarry, had time been available I would be up there.
8. Amongst the pine trees.
9. An abandoned farmhouse and attached cottages overlooking Winfields'.
10. A long forgotten about sluice gate that once regulated water to Britannia Mill.

I always thought that winter had no colour except white and darks. This year however, I've taken the time to really look, and there are lovely though muted colours to be seen. Your photos of today's jaunt really show this beautifully :)

Caroline, I am not clever enough to ADD realistic colour......I am only at the stage of being able to selectively remove colour.
I can add a single colour then remove some of the background colour.....so I could make Pris a mauve cat, but not give her her true colour.
Recently I haven't had time to do any of that......but I am still making cards though(by request).

Thanks, I do like to be out in the snow, the problem with snow though is that it is a very bright and can appear grey if not exposed correctly, my trick is to overexpose by one stop.

Thank you for explaining, Margaret. However you do it, it's a good effect and I've seen how it has enhanced your photos. The cards you make are wonderful, and a worthy creative outlet.
I think Miss P. would be amused to see herself in mauve hah hah!

Sorry Margaret! Please don't. That wasn't my intention. I know how busy you are! Clumsy of me.

No, not at all. It was a bit of a diversion from all the work I have been doing lately.
Here you go, see what you think.
I like it...and I enjoyed remembering how to do it too:)

I love a good b+w image with a splash of colour chucked in for effect (though some turn out alot better than others)...I think, I'll be having a go myself when I get some time...."watch this space" as they say :)

Glad you like it too.
Some pictures are more effective(when this process is applied) than others.
I really like this one..but I had to scratch my head to remember how to do it...Haven't done it for a good while.
