Re: the bird
Busman used to have one. He no longer has it. His experience was similar to yours.

Re: the bird
My step brother has one. It took ages for it to settle in and let them handle it. It will only let my sister in law handle it as she is the one who feeds it. My advice would be to be patient, it will probably just take time to get used to you.
Unless you've had it for years and it still dislikes you, then it's time to get rid...:D |

Re: the bird
If it keeps on biting you, you won't need to teach it to swear, it'll learn all on its own!
|
Re: the bird
Bite it back harder it will swear then............

Re: the bird
Anybody remember the chap in Oswald Street, Church, who had a mynah bird? He kept the junk shop on the corner of Tanpits, and lived across the street. In Summer he used to leave his front door open then he could see if anybody called into the shop. Unfortunately, if a girl walked past, there would be a yell of "Cor - look at that" and other less choice phrases. His reputation went right down, and in self-defence he took to hanging the mynah outside the front door - yep, it was the bird!

Re: the bird
I remember the one Mrs. Baldy had (pet shop in Warner St Accy) which would announce "Mother! shop!" when you walked in and tell you to "sit down and put yer feet up" then ask "Is t'kettle on?"
People not used to it would be looking round to see who was speaking. It didn't sound at all like a bird, very human voice. |
Re: the bird
Whisper PAXO to it .......it should get the message...!
We used to have a Mynah bird........it only ever swore when the priest came to visit my mother....... and then it used to say 'F*** off'.........what is worse I think it was my grandma, who was very prim and proper, taught it to say that. |
Re: the bird
It takes a while for birds to trust you just be patient, talk gently and no quick movements, if all else fails you could put it on a sandwich!
|
Re: the bird
Shame on you, Grego. That is a horrible thing to say!
You could always threaten it with a stint in solitary confinement... in the microwave. |
