Noticed about 3 weeks ago ... had ants on my top patio step ! Never had them before.

Today (I shake as I post this). 100's on the step with wings (Flying Ants Day !). Heeby Jeebies or what ...

They sored off West trying to dodge the lurking Dragon Fly, who would have had the best lunch in years, mating for the one time in their life before the males lost their wings and died (tee hee ...sounds good to me).

They are all gone now ... just one or two stragglers. Know the crack where they are coming from. Have no filler or owt so plugged with a tissue. Sorta' sad to see the few stragglers frenetically puzzling why they cannot get down there.

Will try and get tomorrow a product that a Pest Controller recommended on the Jeremy Vine show a few days ago.

Hate the little beggars, but suppose it was a privilege to witness this One Day Event in the year.

Hope they weren't mine, Margaret ... about 2 p.m. :D

I have not had any doors/windows open either, although, they didn't seem interested in coming inside my house at all.

I've had problems with ants for a few years now in the house, but only for about 5 or 6 weeks back end of April through May into June, then they completely disappear. I did have had some ant powder which they didn't seem to like.;) However the other week when Joan was getting my wheelchair out from the store next to the front door she came across a:eek::eek::eek:NEST:eek::eek::eek:, thousands of um, some with wings too. I have to say that she has just this minute she has checked for WLDLIFE and there is no to be seen anywhere, it took a dusting every week for three weeks to get rid, but now the little blitters have gone:alright:

Re: Ants

I got up the other morning to ants parading in my sink and across the worktop. I wondered why i had two cats and a dog in the bedroom!!! Then noticed the ants were walking up the side of the unit, following the parade, they were coming in from underneath the door to the van. Handbrush and dustpan to the ready, they were swept in to the dustpan, cold tap running into the sink, giving them swimming lessons, stamping on the ones on the floor, then armed with ant powder, which i hasten to add, i bought from Asda before i left England, poured it onto the step outside, non have been in since. Only trouble is, there are millions of them milling about outside. They seem to appear early morning before the heat starts. But the ant powder, i can certainly recommend.
