Let's hope people show their community spirit and help out anyone who has a problem. :)

Let's also hope the council gets it's act together soon and really clamps down on those that  that aren't sticking to the rules.

You think you lot have it hard.In Germany you have a biological rubbish bin, a normal rubbish bin.Yellow bags where all the plastic and drink cartons go.Paper, tins and bottles go up to the respective collection skips.Batteries another place.Metal goes to the tip.Fridges have to be collected. You name it and there is a place or somebody you have to get in touch with to get rid of it.Do not forget that the handles must be facing the road on your bins or they will not take it.Also put your names on your bins.Imagine somebodys bin not being emptied and they took yours instead.Roll on bonfire night and then we can all burn the bloody stuff.

Re: Wheelie Bins

We are already recycling paper, glass & tin at home in Hyndburn.
Fridges have to be collected separately.
Other councils have started recycling plastic and collecting batteries separately. Presumably Hyndburn will eventually do the same.

The handles have to be facing outwards on the wheelie bins here, and yes we have already had wheelie bins taken for one reason or another .

All areas of Hyndburn will eventually have wheelie bins.
They are being brought in zone by zone.

Has anybody noticed the article about Wheelie Bins on page 35 of this week's Observer? ( dated 12th September),  it makes very interesting reading, at last people are beginning to listen. :D

I to heard that wheelie bins had to be paid for if they were stolen. It's good to know your friends bin was replaced for free.  :D :D
