Heee! Some of those take me back, there's quite a few in there that used to be favourites of mine :)

My little sis used to watch Puddle Lane and the other one ... The Riddlers ... were the characters had more than a passing resemblance to Zoe Wanamaker :D

Re: does anyone remember these shows

I loved Anne of Green Gables, also HR Puff n Stuff with Jack Wild - ah memories. Puddle Lane was a favourite with my kids, I think we've still got a couple of the books squirrelled away somewhere. The Tomorrow People is another old favourite thats just sprung to mind as well.

............. :D

I've still never seen any re-runs on Sky. With the pooh programmes they put on there, you would think they would show something as classic as Prisoner Cell Block H wouldn't you!

I certainly do Mariam. Timeslip was great, you can get it on dvd now(half of it is in black & white) but Ace of Wands was fantastic!! A bit like sapphire & Steel without the expensive  special effects.

I do, our family loved "The Groves". :D

I rather fancied Michael Medwin, Corporal Springer in The Army Game, but I stopped watching it when Alfie Bass and Bill Fraser (Bootsie and Snudge) came in. I couldn't stand either of them.

Re: does anyone remember these shows

There was a children's TV "soap", alongside The Groves, called "The Appleyards". I used to watch it around the same time as "Whirligig" with Humphrey Lestocq and that dreadful puppet with all the strings showing, was it Mr Turnip? Sorry we're back in the days of Muffin The Mule (hideous and useless) now. :D

West Ender 06-04-2009 22:34

Re: does anyone remember these shows

We got our first telly in 1952, the year before the coronation. The screen was only 9", in a polished wood cabinet that took up nearly a whole corner of the room, and programmes were only on for about 2 hours a day. :D

Talking of Wagon Train, wasn't Ward Bond the Big Boss? Then there was Rawhide which set Clint Eastwood on the road to fme and fortune, does anybody remember the cook in that program was a cantankerous sod, if there was a remake JB could audition for the part:D

Re: does anyone remember these shows

We got a 9" Bush TV set for the coronation.......we all gathered round and sat in the darkened room to watch it.......we had to stand for the National Anthem.......and when the TV programs were over(they were only on at set times then), my mother used to cover the TV with a table cloth to prevent it getting scratched, bumped or whatever by us rambunctious children.
Ah....takes me back!

Remember the Saturday matinees o.k. - but do you remember the song?

"We come along on Saturday morning, greeting everybody with a smile.
We come along on Saturday morning, laa..laa..laa ???

I do believe there were two versions!
