Cadbury Cubs
Does anyone remember the Cadbury Cubs in the 40s and 50s? It was a correspondence club set up by Cadburys Chocolate and members got a badge and a monthly newsletter with games and puzzles. There were 3 ficticious characters, Colin, Carol and Chris, who used to be shown standing side by side with their arms outstretched, Colin's arm over Carol's head, Carol's arm over Chris' head, and there was always news of what they had "been doing".
The whole point of the club was to promote Cadburys, just occasionally you got a free sample of chocolate. It made you grow, healthy and strong, was the message behind the promotion. Imagine that today with the present problems of obese children etc. How the world has changed. |

Re: Cadbury Cubs
It's weird, I've never met anyone my age who was a Cadburys Cub, apart from me! I'm beginning to wonder if I was the only one, wow! a whole club all to myself. :D
I think I was an Ovaltinie when I was very young - I think my brother signed me up - but Radio Luxembourg was very patchy on our wireless and I used to miss half the programme due to the whistling and crackling noises. |
