Your best friend
2 Attachment(s)
Would love to hear about your life long friendships. Pictures below of my oldest and dearest friend and myself, which has now lasted since birth and now into in our 60's.
Attachment 10407 Me on the right Attachment 10408 Me on the left. We have learned to walk together, played on the swings together, biked to Cock Bridge together, picknicked together, walked to school together, collected bonfire together, snowballed together, blown out birthday candles together, visited nightclubs together, rock 'n rolled together, holiday'd together, bridesmaids for each other, cuddled our children together, buried our parent's together, etc., etc., Sure you get the picture. Feel lucky to have been blessed with such a friendship. Now, even though live in different countries, we are still inseparable, just hope I go first. |
Re: Your best friend
I'm in the same situation with my best friend, Katex.

Re: Your best friend
What a cracking story Kate not many of us hold on to friends like that. It brought a few tears to my eyes.

Re: Your best friend
I met my best friend when we were both 4 and started at St Marys school. We're both 64 now. We went through primary school together, then to Paddock House, and I used to go to her house for lunch from school so her mum and dad were like 2nd parents to me. My mum taught her how to iron a shirt!
When I got married she was my bridesmaid. When she got married I was her matron of honour. She's my eldest child's godmother. We don't see each other a lot but we keep in touch and, when we do meet, it's like we last met yesterday. |

Re: Your best friend
My best friend is Angie (Mange on Accyweb). She doesn't come on the site much because she is not very computer literate, I know that she won't mind me saying that.
We met when we were about 13 and she has just turned 40 and I will turn 40 soon (sooner than I'd like actually) :o We have shared a lot of laughs, drinks, dances, money, man troubles and life traumas. We always come out of troubles laughing together. We may not see each other for weeks on end, but we are in touch. If I feel miserable, I know where to go and she, likewise. We have made it clear that we would like to be in the same nursing home eventually where we plan on causing mayhem. :D They say that you can't choose your family but you can choose your friends. I couldn't have asked for a better family and have also been blessed with my brilliant friend...... How lucky am I?:) |

Re: Your best friend
I have a couple lifelong friends. One friend, straight from nursery :D and another i met when i was 3-5 (also my housemate) his grandma was my mothers suday school teacher :D
Nice to read about your friendship. I don't categorise my friends as to say somebody is my best f riend but i do value friendship highly. |
Re: Your best friend
What a good thread can't think why I missed it first time around really. My best friend without a doubt is Joan and has been for close on 22 years, more of a soul mate really, especially now I'm in poor health. I have other friends some old some new, in that respect I'd have to say Mtheads dad, who i've know since we were kids, he still pops round to see me on a regular basis, as does former MP Ken Hargreaves, true friends, there is also some one who I've met quite recently within the last few years who I consider a friend who like myself spends a lot of time on here;)

Re: Your best friend
i first met my best mate when we worked together when i was 14, we've helped each other through allsorts, moving, wedding, babies, bitching about men over a few glasses of wine, putting the world to rights almost everyday, going out and getting drunk together, falling over in hysterics, laughing at the mistakes we've both made but more importantly we are always there for each other, no matter what
