GET OUT - YOU'RE BARRED!!!!..Why?
 

Just following on from the thread on 1st Pint, 1st local.....I wonder how many of you have fond memories of being barred from local hostelries? In my case - and this may seem surprising - my only pub was the so-called Bees Knees. That occaision was back in 1974, when I pebbledashed the gents loos with an eclectric mixture of carrot and keg ale.

The funny thing was, I never went back there until about 5 years ago for a meet up with some of you lot on the Accy Web....and guest what? Some monkey came up to me and told me to get out because my footware was not appropriate (there were one or two others as well)..but did they have my piccy behind the bar after all these years? After all, I'm a good boy, really.

Barred for crying "huey" in the Derby (as was)? Must have gone upmarket by '74. In the late 60's you could chuck up with complete impunity. Ian would just wipe it down with water and disinfectant, then ask you what you wanted for your next drink. :D

too many to even remember suppose the funniest was the "Horseshoe" on union rd ossy, one friday night, chucked up in the back room, went n told the landlord n asked fer a mop n bucket, when to my horror he produced a baynot from behind the bar n came charging at me,:D never ran as fast in me life.:D got past palladium n he gave up, so we carried on down union rd cursing him etc, got just before Church station n was roadworks wi the owd Red lanterns marking the hole, kicked em down the hole in temper into about 9" of water, used to be a "Police Substation" just under the bridge across rd, a plod had just left it n heard the racket, needless to say he told me to get down the trench n get the lamps out, was sodden me suit n shoes ruined, but was better than getting done! certainly a friday night to remember, happy days.:D would be about mid/late 60s.

Good job you were running downhill towards Church, and not uphill..otherwise you might not have made it, Still, I suppose they might might have renamed a pub after the incident...just think, we could now be drinking in the Baynot & Cashman, instead of the Tinker and Budget.

Ace Of Spades club, Whalley, around 1966, Matt Monroe, was singing, Born Free, I Threw up into my mates lap, his brand new suit, he chased me into the loo, I climbed out the window, riped my pants on the way down the drain pipe, wasnt barred but didnt go back for a while. Last time I saw Matt Monroe as well. I think the last artist I saw there was Dennis Lotis.

Once walked into a pub in Longton only got through the door and was told i was barred
my hair was too long:D

The "Old House At Home", "Ye Old Black Bull" "Hope And Anchor" and "Station" up union rd were classics, but too long to write up.:D

Got to say, if any of you are ever having a natter with Cashy, ask him to tell you some of his pub banning stories and other escapades from the 60's. He practically had me in tears (of laughter) in the Oak Lea this afternoon. It would be no good him putting them on here - it really is the way he tells 'em. The wheelchair in the Chinese restaurant was a particular classic, Mr C! :D

well i had something like that at a w.m. c and i was told because i only went in once a week why did i make my self a member he told me that his son was on the dole and he went in tree times a week and i was working so i got hold of my card and cut itup and ive never been in there anymore
