Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
I'd love to have tried them but the shipping costs more than the kippers- £7.84 for a couple of kippers??
I'll nip down to the village fishmonger and see what he has. |
Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
Strange coincidence- rooting through the freezers just now I found a couple of ready meals, can't remember where or when we got them.
Guess what - they are Kershaws of Southport so they're still going strong, just changed their product line. Haven't a clue what they're like but handy for emergencies. Oh, edit, few minutes later-looked them up and read the reviews- might throw them away! |

Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
I will come round for my tea one day next week, Margaret. Get the best china out.

Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
Perhaps if I'd ordered a few packs the shipping wouldn't be so bad. But they're still 'boil in the bag'?
Please let us know what they're like, Margaret. I love a good kipper! |

Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
They were very tasty but very salty - that was OK for me but some people might not like that.

Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
Oh, and those little bags of shrimps with vinigar, I can nearly taste them now. I can't get kippers here in Vietnam, I am flying to see a mate in Abu Dahbi next month, he has a freezer full of kippers waiting for me. Suppose thats a bit to far from Accy for you, LOL.

Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
You can still get them in all the supermarkets. What happened to the boil in the bag curry's? Well I recall one day, (sometime in the mid 90's) they just stopped making them without even consulting the consumer.

Re: 'Boil in the bag' kippers
Haven't got to fishmongers yet but I was in Asda yesterday- there they were- Scottish kippers, boil in the bag. Worth trying?
Tried them today- good news, not too much smell when we opened the bag- that's because there was hardly any taste either. Soft, mushy, almost tasteless- awful! Threw the other bag away. Only good point for you, Bob, no bones. Don't try them, you live near MargaretRs supply, have a run over and try them. |
