Acrobat 6 pro is not free, it is out of date but not free. Acrobat reader is the free one. I would suggest you ditch version 6 and install Acrobat reader 7, it is a lot faster loading and doesn't crash out Firefox, if you use it. Try cutpdf here for writing pdf's, it works well and is free.

I've not posted that it's dodgy.

I never write pdf neil, i don't even know what they're for. your right it wasn't free. I've never had it crash anything but it does keep wanting updates. Dunno about swapping it for standard 7 though, the pro is far better than the last standard one i installed.

No you haven't but to be blunt, there is more than £450 worth of software there. I guess you have all teh license codes, etc?

I find it quite funny that people are so happy to use dodgy software but aren't prepared to admit it.

Is there? I got a bargain then didn't I, It ain't a bad machine too, even if it is a little old, and the writers doesn't play the sound very clear. If i plug an external dvd drive in its clearer but still not perfect. on the pc one i get a constant regular beep through the speaker s and its really quiet and the external the beeps aren't there and its louder but still not right, perhaps you could guess on that for me?. As for being happy, most of the software i use is the free software, I have absolutely no use for dreamweaver. I've never used nero. Don't really use office, I use wordpad. Shame it's going to waste really.

DVD playback could be a DMA issue. Ensure it is enabled on all drives.(Control Panel, system, device manager disk properties IIRC). Have you tried re-installing the soundcard drivers? maybe worth a go. could you try a spare soundcard to eliminate that from teh equation?

I to have both Mirosoft and Open Office. I use Staroffice 8 at work and when I get round to it will install Open Office 2.0 (Staroffice 8 equiv) but have MSO for my daughter thanks to the school.
