Reducing the size of a 9min movie

I have a 9 minute movie with a .mov suffix. It's 2Gb. I need to convert it so that I can add it on to a website. It seems to be too big a file to upload onto the site, how do I reduce it/squish it so that it's more manageable? I use Macromedia Contribute to edit my websites.

Any suggestions?

ime pretty good at movie conversions and could definatly reduce its size ( actualy ime very good but i dont like to brag )

check out this site its ok for beginners

www.vcdhelp.com

look at the how to section and select what you want to convert

if you have no luck i can do it 4 you

2gb is enough to do a full movie nevermind a home made clip , whatever you used to make the movie was definatly not set right

I would be careful letting Jason edit your video if I were you. Who knows what he will add to it.

Do you have any idea what size you would like it to be. What sort of picture size is it? You can reduce it's file size by reducing it's picture size.

I don't know - that's why I'm asking!

I have a file that is 2gb - it's a .mov file - and I need it to be adapted so it can be put onto a website. Did I not say that in my first post?

you probably want to convert it to something like wmv. try using Windows Movie maker, for Microsoft software its actually not bad... ARRRRGGHHH I say the M word!!!!!!!!!!

Dropping the resolution to something like 320x200 pixels will help along with dropping audio qualityl.

.MOV btw is Quicktime MP4 format

You see Neil - this is how you provide useful information. :D

Thank you Entwisi

Unfortunately it won't let me load in a .mov file says it's not compatible.

Edited - I checked at it is 2gb - it was a film camera that was used which probably explains the size.
