Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
just bought a new laptop and decided that as I have no real use of windows I would attempt to get a refund for teh Vista that came bundled. Armed with hours of reserach of how people had fought long and hard to get it refunded I picked up the phone ready for a fight.
American voice "Let me put you through to a colleague who can help you Sir" Irish voice "I believe you want to return your Vista for refund" me "yes, as it says I can in teh EULA" Irish bloke "thats not a problem, I'll get it credited back to your debit card Sir, Anything else I can help you with?" me <fx: dumbstruck> "No, thats brilliant, Thank you!" So WELL DONE DELL!!!!!!! |
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
Nice to hear of a happy outcome without having to fight the company involved.

Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
I have got my last two computers from DELL and have found them very obliging and helpful, but the thing is I've only rung them twice in 5 years and my enquiry was dealt with very quickly, I can recomend DELL to anyone

Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
Dell once phone talked me through a reformatt which took most of a day.
I was crafty and used a freephone number from 'SayNoto0870' |
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
Dell were notorious for bad post sales a few years ago, so they have been fighting to sort that, especially after the battery fiasco of a couple of years ago
Of course the return of Michael Dell has also helped. |
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
for additional info
shoved a Ubuntu 8.04 disk in, installed in 25 mins, all working including wifi, sound, native res screen picked up automagically, built in memory card reader, in fact everything I can see any use for is all up and working. I have installed the non GPL Nvidia 3D drivers so have full acceleration available which took about 3 clicks and 2 mins, no discs or anything. Only got to test the firewire card and the bluetooth |
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
how do they know that you are not using it though becuase i got a dell laptop recently and got vista disc's for it just incase anything goes wrong, so did you not have to send the disc's back or anything. and yes i would recommend dell to anyone
|
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
I asked him where to send teh discs and he said I didn't need to bother. All I can assume is that they enter my license code with Microsoft and it would then be marked as not valid for updates etc.
I'm not tempted either way though :D |
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
So how much did they credit you back?
|
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
Very refreshing to see a Company involved with PC's to be so helpful, normally get so much hassle from them over the slightest complaint.
|
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
It is good to hear of someone getting their money back for something they can't use.
|
Re: Damm you Dell!! or actually Well Done!!!!!!
