Trojans?
i seem to have acquired a trojan somehow, how do i get rid of it? i have AVG and AVAST running so i cant understand how i got it
anyone know how to get rid of it? it only seems to be affecting my emails, doesnt affect anything else i do on the web, i cant open emails and when i attempt to it brings up lots and lots of other pages (blank ones) any help would be grateful :) |
Re: Trojans?
If you know you ahve a trojan then presumably you know the name of it... if you do then do a search on Symantec - AntiVirus, Anti-Spyware, Endpoint Security, Backup, Storage Solutions and they usualy have removal tools .. or google it
|
Re: Trojans?
all it said was...i have 'trojan horse agent BAGI'
and something called DCOM Exploit keeps coming up too, i'll give that a go, thanx KP |
Re: Trojans?
If you google 'trojan horse agent BAGI' do NOT download any of the software that says it is a free removal tool.. there just more trojans and all manner of naughty stuff you dont want.. Only use a site you can trust.

Re: Trojans?
I have just had loads of different Trojans which naffed up my computer, this has been fixed now and I had AVG so thinking of going for a better anti virus now
|
Re: Trojans?
i think avg is crap Lesley, i will definately be changing it after this
|
Re: Trojans?
I have had I think 2 virus problems in 18 years online.. I have always used Norton since I crossed over to PCs and it dont matter to me how many people knock Norton.. It finds virus and trojans etc..
It helps that i have never used microsoft for emails and only accept text emails in the software i do use.. 99% of hackers target microsoft . |

Re: Trojans?
Avast Home Edition at the moment, click the free software link and you can download it free. You have to register it though which is straight forward.

Re: Trojans?

Re: Trojans?
May be the trojan is blocking it?? Not really clued up on how these things work though.
I have also never used anything but Norton and have never had a virus/trojan problem. Last computer mag I bought had them as the best too. Also use Firefox and Thunderbird for my browser and email - without doubt better then IE and OE. |
Re: Trojans?
What about this one CLICK
|
Re: Trojans?
same again Ken, i think Phil must be right, the trojan must be blocking them, the same thing is happening when i try to get into my emails :(
|
Re: Trojans?
OK, I'll email it to you
|
Re: Trojans?

Re: Trojans?
Are you able to do a system restore to the day before the problem arose Flashy??
Try this: 1. Go to the start button and then go to accessories. 2. Look for System Tools. 3. Go to the little box that says system restore and click on it. Hold your mouse over it. 4. Note that a new window appears with a button Restore Computer to an earlier time. 5. Click next then a calender will appear choose a date before you got the virus and continue. 6. Notice that your computer will restart and return to the condition it was in on the you selected. 7. Understand that if it does not, then go to Programs, select system restore, and all the files on your computer should be erased. Tips * System restore is only available in Microsoft's Windows Me, XP and Vista operating systems. * If something tells you what file or folder the virus is in then go to my computer and delete the folder. * If your computer lags just wait for it to smooth out. Hope some of that helps!! If it does work then your first act should be to download top quality AV software. Even if you have to pay for it. |
Re: Trojans?
