Iphone

Right, ive just got a new HTC HD2 on contract with Virgin. The windows phones just not for me and i want an iphone. I can sell my phone i have now for £400 and then buy an iphone.

The only problem, can i use my virgin sim in the new Iphone?? On normal phones if the phone is unlocked then normally you can put in your sim in and your off.

If so , i shall then buy one.

I have unlimited internet etc etc so the cost isnt a problem.

Re: Iphone

Even though iPhone is available on more than O2 I still believe its locked due to Steve Jobbs ( one of the few reasons I don't like Apple ) and his dicatorlike rule over his products that goes against all common sense.

You can jailbreak them but that can bring a whole raft of its own problems

Have you looked at the Symbian and Maemo devices as an alternative? I've had my N900 (Maemo) since before Xmas and its an amazing piece of kit that allows complete control of itself by you.

I used Symbian stuff before this and was very happy with that as well.

Ring o2 up and ask, but I'm pretty sure you can unlock them for £15. Or do as Entwisi says and jailbreak it.

I'd recommend an android phone. I have a nexus one (gone to it from an iPhone) and like it much more. Much more open, and has multitasking among other things. There's also the HTC Desire which is pretty much the same hardware, but has a slightly different interface. They are quite expensive phones to buy outright though.

if your buying one new from apples website enquire about how you go about choosing your network

if your buying second hand jailbreak it which incidently causes no problems what so ever with the phones operation infact on some versions of software you can enable blutooth file transfer which means you can send pictures and songs to your friends where as you cant with an un jailbroken iphone

if your not sur ehow to jailbreak or want to know whats it means search jailbreak in youtube there loads of information there and you can see if its for you before you buy your iphone.

everthing you do can be undone via itunes so no need to worry about warranty issues either should you ever need to return it

done all my frinds and families but personaly i think the iphones are garbage but each to their own

Its an unlocked one id be buying, theirs a few new ones on ebay which are unlocked. So thats why i was wondering if it would work with Virgin?

I just dont want to get the phone and then suddenly apple block my phone!

Im sure though if it was unlocked, i put my virgin sim in and it works then there should be no problem and i can then use my existing itunes account to put media and apps on etc?

Re: Iphone

if you have an account already with itunes you can continue to use that account just log in on your iphone

be sure you are buying an iphone that is truely network free , i havnt looked into that side of purchasing an iphone but i was under the impression that they were only disributed locked to whatever provider you took teh deal with

ask teh person whos sellin them on ebay if they are genuinly multi network or if he has purchased them , jailbroke them then sold them on

always double double check anything you buy from ebay especialy expensive items

Obviously could be some that are genuinely unlocked, but from my experience the vast majority are simply jailbroken. Probably cheaper than buying it from o2 though anyway.

Also if you do get an iPhone and opt for the insurance.. I think o2 charge something like £120 a year depending on model. My bank insured my phone with their most basic monthly package (£5/month).

Re: Iphone

is this teh sort of sale you are looking at

APPLE IPHONE 3GS 16GB BLACK LEGAL FACTORY UNLOCKED = UK on eBay (end time 10-Apr-10 04:17:12 BST)

i like how he says his phones are legaly unlocked pmsl

its not illigal to jailbreak your phone

on a side note and i know i have already mentioned this but if you do buy an iphone you will never be able to send photos, ringtones etc or recieve them from your friends as on teh iphone the only thing the bluetooth allows is connection to your headset. You wont believe how much you miss been able to do it until the option is gone.

ps:

again be very carefull with ebay because most of these people with ebay shops are operating from their bedroom and even if you pay through paypal dont assume you have any protection what so ever.My friend ordered two laptops and only one was delivered and despite exploring every option available paypal still ruled in the dodgy sellers favour and he is now out of pocket over £300

IF you know a student get them to purchase the phone from apple becaus ethey give discounts on apple products although im not sure if this includes tehir phones
