I have just replaced a laptop.......I didn't get windows 8...I just don't like the look of it.
I was the same with Vista, but to my cost. I ignored those gut feelings.
I like windows 7......Vista was the worst OS EVER!

What was wrong with your old laptop?

I gifted it to my daughter...hers was nearly as old as me:D
It had vista on it...and I did think of getting the OS changed, but she said she didn't mind Vista.......so I told her she could have it.
She hasn't used it much so maybe she doesn't like Vista after all.

Makes me think of the good/bad cycle

Windows 3.1 1992- Good
Windows 95 1995- Crap(ish)
Windows 98 1998- Good
Windows ME 2000- THE VERY WORST
Windows XP 2001- Good
Windows Vista 2006- Almost as bad as ME
Windows 7 2009- Good

Windows 8......

What about MS-DOS? - We still have 5 PC's at work running MS-DOS on production machines. They were only installed about 6 years ago

Windows 3.1 is still running a production machine where I used to work

95 was a big leap from 3.1 - it hid DOS better :D

Personally, I think that Vista is worse than 2000 ME
But I agree, they were both bad.
I'm sure they were formulated by work experience people.

Re: Windows XP The Countdown Begins

Windows 2000 and ME are not the same thing. 2000 was the replacement for NT and was probably where XP came from

Re: Windows XP The Countdown Begins

ME was an updated version of Win98, it`s full name was Windows 98 Millenium Edition and just didn`t work properly. Vista did at least work without crashing every ten minutes.

Lol would love to see it

Re: Windows XP The Countdown Begins

I was shocked when I started there in 2000 and found out it was Windows 3.1. I know the machine is still in daily use and it was definitely still on 3.1 5 years ago and I doubt it will have been changed.

I felt sure that I had a computer that had the 2000 logo with Millenium Edition in smaller text underneath...and to the right...but if you say they were different things, I will take your word for it.
