Re: World Cup Thread
ok ... if England win this .. and end up going through as winners of the group .. the way things stand at the minute they'll be playing Germany in the next round .. do we really want to play Germany?
Yes i know Ghana v Germany tonight ... so what we want if England does win this ..then it has to be Germany to beat Ghana tonight ... tis half time .. i need another brew .. anyone want one? |
Re: World Cup Thread

Re: World Cup Thread
we now through as the runners up .. so we need ghana to draw at least and serbia to win ...
Group D teams W D L GD PTS Ghana 1 1 0 1 4 Germany 1 0 1 3 3 Serbia 1 0 1 0 3 Australia 0 1 1 -4 1 then again .. it could be any one of em .. even australia could go through if they score enough goals to get rid of that goal difference .... and the other result goes their way ...:D |

Thier first achievement would be to have 11 men left on the pitch at the end of the game :D |

Re: World Cup Thread
So both of last time's finalists are gone .... this should take some of the heat off the English squad ... at least they are still in it, and in it with a chance. If you discount that god-awful screw up in the first game, England have yet to concede a real goal!
I have read several posts suggesting that what England needs is more home grown talent, a more concentrated effort to develop young English players. I know that using the Italians as an example is possibly inappropriate right now:D, but if you look at the team rosters in Serie A, you will find probably over 60% of the players are Italian, rather than high-priced imports. In the Premier League, I doubt if 30% of the players are English:mad: It's no secret why Canadians dominate our national sport: Canadian kids are involved in organized hockey from the time that they can lace on skates. There are summer schools for players where NHLers teach the kids the finer points of the game. And not only the boys ... there are more girls and women playing hockey in Canada, than in the rest of the world put together. Anyhow, enough hockey: there is probably a wealth of English football talent that goes to waste, because the big Premier League teams spend mega bucks to import foreign players. It's the Americanization of football. In the big leagues, it ain't about sport anymore, it's about making a buck. Talking of which, my buddy Mario Gencarelli should be showing up soon with $50.00 form me, which I will haul up to the liquor store and convert into Lancaster Bomber:) |

Re: World Cup Thread
this made me laugh ..
BBC News - A German view on English football especially the last couple of lines ... I disagree with him. Part of me hopes we lose against England. After all, who wants to meet Argentina in the quarter final? |
Re: World Cup Thread
Just watched Brazil and Portugal draw 0-0 what a load of tosh, must be the worst match so far by supposedly two of the best teams:mad:
