Just got back from the Trafford Centre with a great big grin on my face. If you are a “Petrol Head” you will enjoy it.

The BMW Sauber F1 Team Pit Lane Park is there. Had an excellent few hours. Everything is free. You get a Pit Lane pass for around your neck when you go in, which is yours to keep. Free earplugs in a little presentation box . Free picture taken sat on a BMW F1 car. Loads of games , computer and video, sat in mock up cars or vibrating games seats. Have a go at refuelling, have a go against the clock at changing a wheel.

The highlight is of course the F1 car flexing it’s muscles on a short 100m track. Not a lot of room to play with 750 -800 hp under your toe. Doughnuts galore, burning rubber filling the air…excellent stuff to say that it is all for free. ( todays driver was Augusto Farfus )

Warning. If you take a child under the age of 12 months they will advise you to leave the complex with the child when the F1 car starts up. Even if the child is wearing ear protection.

It’s a really professional set up, absolutely loads of staff to help or advise you.

I took 2 pics then my camera batteries failed :D:D, it was just a car in a garage I got shots of. A bloke did say he would forward some of his pics to my e-mail addy, if he does I will attempt to post them.

Contemplating going back for another peep :)

ooooooooo how did you find out about that Ste? i wouldnt have minded going myself, pick me up on the way if you decide to go back ;)

we went to the renault world series at Donnington last year, he enjoyed it, but i enjoyed it more :D

Well that bloke did send the pics as promised, some belters too. I sent him a thankyou mail but also asked if he would mind if I posted some of the pics. Seems only fair to ask the man.

If he says it is fine to post them I will do. No reply from him as yet tho

****** it I will stick a couple of pics on. I cant see the chap minding too much.

Notice that they only use tyre warmers on the front ( which were wets ) the rears are left stone cold so they were super slippy. The area for doing doughnuts is made wet with a hosepipe so that the tyres last slightly longer.

:D We went out to do the weekly shop this mornin came back, had half a brew and set off to Manchester. Spent most of the afternoon there.

We came back for the dog, he needed feeding etc. poor sod. So we did that, I srarted this thread, had a quick bite to eat and went back :)

it was excellent Bernie, the noise of the F1 car was awesome :D
