The Jamm..

Calling all Jam fans..

Tribute group, The Jamm are playing at Accy Town Hall on Saturday May 5th 8pm. Tickets are a tenner each.

I have seen a couple of Jam tributes but have to say that these guys were the best ones, saw them at Manchester Academy a couple of years ago. So if there are any 40 year old stage divers out there...... you know where to come..:D

A tenner:eek: Think it cost about half of that to see the original Jam at king Georges back in 79.That said i may well don my fred perry polo & herrington jacket for a surf on the wave of nostalgia.Do they play 'Butterfly Collector'?

I went to the Versus Cancer gig on the 30th March at M.E.N, Noel Gallagher & Paul Weller collaborated on 'Butterfly Collector' acoustically - it was absolutely amazing.
My favourite tune played by my favourite artists & I was there :D Mint.

Sorry back to thread - I've heard The Jamm & The Jam Restart, the latter are probably the best Jam tribute, but I don't like tributes at all so what would I know.

I don't 'get' tribute bands - why do people go and watch someone else perform the music of the group or band that they really love?

Probably because the bands they love would never come to Accy town hall so if they can't afford 60 quid or so for a ticket plus having to travel to wherever the band's playing then it's better than nothing.I'm sure most people would rather see the real thing though if they could.

It depends Gayle, if it's a new band then yes I'd want to see the 'real' people not a tribute, but you'll find many tribute bands that play the music of bands that have been going quite a long while will play the older stuff, where as the 'real band' are usually touring to promote new material they've just released .... pause for breath :D .... did that make sense?

Sort of - but I like going to watch bands that play cover versions and old familiar songs - I just don't really 'get' the pretending to be another band altogether.

I can definitly see the point of tribute bands, especially if the originals have split, as it allows fans to get that concert atmosphere again.

Well tribute band or not, we had a brilliant night, much better than slogging round Accy's dead pubs. My ears were ringing and I was knackered from the dancing when we got in.

Believe it or not, Accy Town Hall is a fab music venue, I really don't know why it isn't used more often for this purpose as it is easily as big as Burnley Mechanics.

Is this upstairs at the town hall? Was it well supported?

Yes, it was upstairs in the Ballroom. It was pretty well supported but there was plenty of room for more.

know what ya mean, glad ya had a great night, dont think the town hall has the same atmosphere as the mechanics though although its more convieniant, the reason they dont have more there could possibly be= its usually booked for weddings.:D
