Hi Jaysay, I kept thinking about doing a Desert Island Disk post but never got round to it - don't you get to chose one luxury item as well?

Mine would be a community arts grant from the government, to see how long a beard you can grow in thirty years.

I'm scrubbing number five, the 1812 Overture, for more Callas. This time singing Casta Diva, from Norma, as being marooned for years I'll probably be in need of a good skrike.

Re: Your Desert Island Disc

1) Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile (Slight Return).
2) Sex Pistols - God Save the Queen.
3) Hawkwind - Masters of the Universe (live version).
4) Pink Floyd - Wish you were here.
5) Elton John - Rocket Man.
6) The Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds.
7) Fleetwood Mac - Albatross.
8) Beatles - Day in a life.

I'd have to take an acoustic guitar.

But I could think of another 8 to replace them.

Don't you get the bible and the works of Shakespeare thrown in or something?

Re: Your Desert Island Disc

Here's my top 8:-

1 My Love is like a red,red rose (Kenneth McKellar) This reminds me of my wife

2 Lovesick Blues (Hank Williams) This takes me back to my teenage years. However I am feeling, this lifts me up.

3, Aint Misbehavin ( Fats Waller is a great favourite of mine. . along with Jelly Roll Morton)

4 Blueberry Hill (Fats Domino) This makes me want to jive even though its not fast.

5. Memories of You ( Benny Goodman Trio) Relaxation

6 The Unchained Melody (Al Hibbler) There have been some good versions, but this is from my youth and the tune takes me back to my teens. Very romantic

7. When the Saints Go Marching in (The Saints Jazz Band) The Saints, a Manchester trad jazz band, were the first such band I ever saw. It was up the Con and pointed me towards the love of the tailgate trombone, the lilting clarinet. Makes me happy, though there are many recordings I would be equally happy with.

8. I Can't Get Started (Bunny Berigan) reminds me of a particular period in my life.

I'd like to have included somethibng by Doris Day, with whom I am in love ,and by Buddy Holly, the great innovator. I could go on.

I'd like to take a dictionary and a bottomless bottle of port to accompany the Lancashire Creamy cheese.
