I had the original Album of The End Of The World, plus 3 others of Skeeters, lent em to a good mate n only got 3 back.:eek: Yeh guessed it, that un was missing. He said he lent em to another D.J. who lived oer Gt Harwood n i said get it back off him fer me,2 weeks later he croaked, so never saw it again.:(

Sorry, walkinman, I loved everything Johnny Cash did- until this song and his last LP.
A very sad, depressed and sick man came through. His health, the loss of his wife etc.
I know it's a reflection of how he was and felt at the time but I can't think it could ever be 'Your fav country and western song'.

It's true-I love depressing music though! Hurt is amazingly well written. Depends what you're looking for in listening material I suppose!

I have. Tried that is. Before I knew the words I actually went through a short phase of thinking 'Just because we are married, don't mean we can't sleep around' were lyrics in 'Blanket on the Ground'.

Incredibly sophisticated song for the country market i'd try not to think about it too much G ;) these are some of them songs i'll listen to for the rest of my days but only when i'm on my own as some of my mates find them irritable...I tell them the old "they dont make em like this anymore" :D

I am going to Damnation festival this weekend and I go to Bloodstock every year as well-my acquaintances are mostly into their rock and metal, as am I,but just-not all the time :)

I sometimes think some of them would disown me if they caught me on an introverted night & saw my playlist :)

I LOVE this song. I can listen to it on repeat. Genius-but then also I have something of an obsession with shipwrecks generally. I've currently got 'Great Sea Disasters' on audiobook in my car stereo. Rock and Roll!
Trent Reznor famously said he had 'Given' this song to Cash, on the grounds that he did it unquestionably better. "This song isn't mine anymore".
