The Drum
The drum has been mentioned as possibly being a reason why more people don't come and watch Stanley. Do you love it or hate it?

Re: The Drum
"I love the drum. The louder the better."

Re: The Drum
Love it. What happened to the promised cheer leaders though?

Re: The Drum
What about the little side shuffle dance the ultras do!?! God, it's never enough for you is it!?!

Re: The Drum
Your drum does keep your fans singing so that's got to be good but its a god awful sound. It's either the drum itself, what he's hitting it with or the ability of the drummer. I went to the Northwich/Woking game on tuesday and the Vics drummer was fantastic. Must be ex-Boys Brigage or something and was using sticks rather than a furry bog brush. Got a real marching rythmn going and it really drove the chanting.

Re: The Drum
I must admit that the constant drumming is tedious and suicide inducing.
Is there any chance of the drummer having some proper lessons so that it can be played, rather than simply pounded? |
Re: The Drum
love to hear the drum and if the Stanley players get encouragement from it then it's gotta stay. Being of rapidly advancing years I have to add that although, living down south now, I would love to stand shoulder to shoulder with the magnificent Ultras / fellow Accringtonians - tried it once and got a headache (from which I rarely suffer) after less than 5 minutes. So now I support from just to the side to lessen the drum's impact. If folks with more sensitive hearing still have problems from a distance, then earplugs are readily available in the shops - it wouldn't stop me watching my beloved Stanley. The previous 2 posts have valid points and I don't mind chucking a tenner in the kitty if our drummer has the time / inclination to hone his skills.

Re: The Drum
Could the Accy Pipe Band not be persuaded to give a few free lessons? Their two drummers who were playing with the band on Broadway yesterday - including a little lad of no more than 8 or 9 - were superb. I'm sure they'd be glad to help.

Re: The Drum
Well i love the way it is pounded throughout the match, sends a real 'warcry' out to the opposition - brilliant!
I'd much rather have that exillerating thud than someone trying to play bloody Bach on a snare.... |
Re: The Drum
does anybody know someone from the band, to see if they would be willing to play a mtach for us? could they learn the tunes or are they simply "pickupable"?
finally lets put the drum debate to bed, Rob, please poll the squad and we would go with the final result. Drum.... you are here to stay pal/ |
Re: The Drum
I'd say keep it but improve it, the drum can be bloody annoying before 2nd half starts with the tedious drumming as been suggested get the poor drummer decent lessons or find someone who can whack a beat in tune appropiate & good footy songs to get the crowd going - works everywhere else LOL
