good first half from stanley lots of diving from rory p still very cocky when halifax scored and even more when the second went in trying to wind coley up but yet again another goal by gary roberts from a free kick to get a draw but should have got a second with millin through on goal and halifax would probably not have come back from 2 down but still one point that should have been all 3 :engsmil: :cool:

Prendergast shouldnt have reacted to the stick; he's supposed to be a professional league player **snigger, blackpool reject, cough** but then again he aint exactly the most normal of folk.
we were VERY lucky to get the equaliser as the referee didnt exactly help our below par performance.

and im sure rory selected the pre-match music himself.......duran duran medley.....nuff said.

What has Prendergast got to be cocky about? He thought he was good enough for the Football League, when obviously he wasn't. He's now playing for a club that is in the same league as the one he left and is no further forward!

You may have been pants, but we played you off the park in that second half! Constant breaks and pressure from our midfield linking up with strikers with nothing coming from your attackers.

I was so gutted because we deserved so much more than what we got! Penalty could have been ours, no yellow for last man fouling etc and a multitude of decent shots compared to a handful from yourselves.

Unfortunately today, our keeper cost us. On top of a cheap free kick, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, trying to organise the wall it seems while the taker kicked the ball into an open side.

Looking forward to the game in Jan, but bitterly disappointed about the result today!

We both had plenty of breaks and chances in the second half...not sure you played us off the park :rolleyes:
The referee was a disgrace - I agree that your penalty claim was a clear one and should have been given. However the referee was extremely one sided; giving fouls against us which you were committing and getting away with; the liners' offsdie decisions were appalling.
Not blaming the ref completely; we didnt deserve a win at all our defending was just about Unibond standard today.:confused:
And by the way; your keeper saved a point for you with a point black brilliant save from Andrew Mangan in the last few minutes.

Unlucky but you know what they say - win at home and draw away...

At least we were kind enough to leave you with your unbeaten home record intact - Grays werent so lucky ;)

Sounds like Rorys gonna be in for it at the IES stick-from-the-terrace-wise... Bit of a shame but people move on I suppose... And weve got Gary Roberts now anyway.... Sounds like our defenders had too much turkey yesterday???

Hearing that, I remember another save he made. It was kind of 1 on 1 and your striker hit it towards the bottom left. It was going to just go in it seemed, but our keeper just nicked it with his foot (this was at 1 - 0) and it went wide. Ref gave a dead ball :D

We controlled the first 44 minutes. Apart from the first minute you never looked like scoring. If you hadn't scored at that critical time just on the half-time break we would have walked all over you. As it was, that turned the game and the second-half in your favour. You may have had a legitimate penalty claim but Paul Mullin had ten or eleven being repeatedly (and obviously to all but the ref) pulled, held and shoved to the ground by his marker. One instance near the end was the clearest penalty you'll ever witness! Given the situation of the teams in the league you needed to beat us and win the game...you didn't! End of your hopes methinks!

Yep, thats right, to win the league you probably needed to beat us home & away, you didn't & now I wish I'd have made the banner with "we are here to end your title hopes!"

I thought the game was even & that Fax had a lot of good players, especially impressed with your left back. But in terms of chances, Mullers, Mangan, Barry all had efforts that were saved & you had Rorys chance that was saved.

All in all, we came to the shay & nicked a poitn now you have to come to Accy & try to do the same. Even if you geta point you gettin no closer & the games are disappearing.............

Having spent the evening with assorted fans of both teams, there was a general consensus that we'd seen a really first-class performance by 22 superb athletes who had sacrificed their Christmas partying and had trained on Christmas Day afternoon so as to be at their best for this Very Important Match.

Both teams were, in fact, excellent.

Neither team let their supporters down.

We discussed the four goals and agreed that Rory Prendergast's left cross to the head of a horizontally diving Killeen would win Goal of the Season if the Beeb ever came to look at us.

We'd seen one of the most exciting football matches in the recent history of our rival clubs, and we'd handled it as mature football enthusiasts who have enormous respect for each other.
