Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
With a big following expected from the fantastic place named Halifax were im sure you all enjoyed a great day out.
I remember last season when we filled down one side and got behind the goal. With your low crowds are we getting a bigger end? :D Looking forward to a good sing song myself, some old favs from last season like my Garden shed is bigger than this and a few of the new songs we have planned. Happy new year. PS - Yesterdays game was great but 2 decesions cost us the game, we should of had a pen and you should of been down to 10 (your number 3 should of received a 2nd booking) but ref bottled it..... Oh well were still the bigger club. ;) |

Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
ohhh i was hoping it would have been a picture of the ref - only him and Mr Prendergast were the cheats that day
|
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
You dont think thats a pen then?
|
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
of course it was - but its the ref's problem - Welchy hardly cheated - the ball was goin out of play
|
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
We should have had a pen, and numerous free-kicks, but the ref was awful. Ya win some, ya lose some

Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
going back to the point of this thread; the away fans who quite rightfully dismay at the quality of our ground and amenities have to remember that we are club on the up. Our ground will get up to scratch but only when the time is right. If they think that the shed is crap they should at least remember that they have a roof over their heads.
Halifax in particular should keep their traps shut. They ARE a big club with a particularly nice big ground. But, they have fallen down the leagues and their ground is far better than the conference expects. Also their crowds are pretty abysmal as well and they are losing fans as they drop down the pyramid. When we get to the promised land we will have a better ground. If we subsequently come back down again then we will be in a position to slag other grounds off (and we will). I'd rather be at a club going up the leagues than going down. Remember where we were five years ago.....ten years ago.....fifteen years ago. The likes of York, Hereford, Halifax, Exeter, Cambridge, Scarborough and maybe even Aldershot were all established league clubs who would have been THE big draw in the first round of the FA Cup rather than teams we play every week and expect six points a year off some of them. Our ground will comfortably cope with the 400 fans you will bring. But five years ago that was our average attendance. Grass roots football here Halifax and you would do well to remember that. I sincerely hope not, but if the ground sale goes against you and Tesco come in for the land then you may be playing every week in conditions far worse if at all. Finally, we OWN our ground, we have NO loans, NO mortgages. We owe NOBODY, we answer to NOBODY and we call OUR OWN shots. We turn a PROFIT every year and if wanted to go into hoc then we could call on a hell of a lot of money to do as we please with but with no guaranteed returns except more terrace to sweep and more roof to paint |

i always thought the same until Eric made a statement a couple of weeks ago to that effect. Maybe Rob could clear it up for us?

Halifax's problem is mainly with the fact the council renaigned on an offer of a loan to the SST to finish the ground, supposedly a million quid! Then also said you gonna have a new (private) landlord! The lease they currently have would have to be given up when a new freeholder was found but the club would be invloved with the negoatiations so there's no real worry there IMO There is a worry in the fact, for Fax, that the Shay will stay unfinished for a good 5 years at least then they need to find private investment:confused: A kick in the teeth but still similar ownership details to the IES |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
all my other points are valid though
|
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
I see the fax fan hasn't mentioned that Rory should have been dismissed twice after his yellow card. 1 the celebrations were crowd provoking than the one Gary Roberts got booked for against York and 2 the tackle later with two feet was another definate yellow if not red. So as Jimbo said you win some you loose some like your going to at the IES.

Nice. I suggest you look back at how you regarded him before he left. One such incident I remember is when you played Huddersfield in the Cup. No doubt hew was great then with no intent of cheating! Its about time you got the wrath of the Prendergast whom you treated like an angel for so long! P.S. That photo of the handball is great. Shows exactly what we missed out on with perfect timing. Nice one KIPAX! |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
You mean just like you lot were spitting on the lad when he played for us and now your singing his praises? thats football man, get over it.
ahhh always looking in the past (in response to your little footnote there) just remember this mr neanderthal man - we're going up and halifax arent. ok? can we manage that? check the current table....ok ok il read it for you, it says: 1) ACCRINGTON see now that means we are top of the league, which means you are not, which means we are better than you, which means WE are the bigger club; ok? poor thing. |

I wasn't picking holes, but I thought I'd missed something.
Thanks for clearing that up Jase (and Rob) |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
Jase knows about property, he is on the board that is interested in buying the ground

Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
yeah thats right we have only played you no-one else good, we didn't beat grays or york or hereford, we're not top of the league on merit either we are just lucky and that luck is going to run out soon, we are also not half way through the season which indicates we have played everybody once wither home or away except tamworth

Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
We have dropped down the league (singular not plural) but have now established ourselves in The Conference. We were play-off contenders last season until the final week and we have been all this season. We showed on Monday why we are in the Top 5, by dominating the league leaders who could only nick a point which they didn't deserve with a last minute goal. You may be top of the league but you are hardly running away with it like Barnet last season. You are still very much in the mix, as are we, and there is still half a season to go. You are 2 points clear of Exeter, hardly insormountable is it? If you are 'on the up' then so are we.
We too have beaten York and Hereford this season. We got a deserved point away at Grays and yes, you deserved to beat Grays. Well done. Doesn't quite make you champions though does it? The 'bigger' club thing is silly, we are playing at the same level aren't we? Just because you have nine-points more than us at this stage of the season doesn't make you a bigger club, and if at any point we have more points than you that doesn't make us a bigger club either. The fact that we are an ex-League club doesn't make us a bigger club either...there are teams in the Unibond divisions that are ex-League. Does that make them a bigger club than Stanley? No. I think people use the 'bigger club' issue simply to wind other fans up. As for Rory Prendergast, I for one am not singing is praises. I thought he was sh!te when he played for you and I still do. As for the away crowd, you may have only brought 400-500 on Monday but the lads from Yorkshire will have a following of around 700-800 next week. Don't worry, we'll provide the atmosphere as I know the home crowd at the IES don't know how to. YORKSHIRE! YORKSHIRE! |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
There'll be plenty of space for you (soon to be renamed) Tesco Town FC supporters. And you won't have to look at a half-finished monumental eyesore glowering over the pitch from one side of the ground like you have for years at your place! You've no chance of winning the league (unlike us) and the only reason you're as highly placed as you are is through signing our `Judas` cast-offs. Must have been a tad irritating seeing his much better replacement scoring our late equalising goal...Ha x 3!!!

Remember first season as a new conference club us hovering around the top half & you hovering around the relegation places. Wewere part time you full! How you waste your potential, well done! |

Don't worry, we'll provide the atmosphere as I know the home crowd at the IES don't know how to. Is that the same atmosphere as you provided at the Shay? Even without our drum i failed to hear you until you scored and that was short lived. |

Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
This conversation can be ended with we will see you at the IES and see who comes out laughing maybe our midfield will be awake and you will see the how good we are and how good you are not.

Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
You can't wind me or any other Town fan up about the stadium I'm afraid. Any criticism of the stand only helps our cause thank you.
You must all be deaf in Burnley, sorry Accrington, if you didn't hear the C'Mon Shaymen chants in the second half. We certainly didn't hear you all game anyway. I never said we were a bigger club. Read my post properly you idiot. As for having no chance of winning the league etc. Well I don't see how Accrington have any more chance than any other team in the top 5 at this stage of the season. You certainly didn't show your credentials for the title on Monday. We only signed 'Judas' on loan about 4 weeks ago. He has not contributed to our league position thank you. I don't care about your replacement. Prendergast means nothing to me or most other Town fans. You may have thought he was God when he played for you last season. We don't think he is anything special and I think Justin Bowler is our best left winger. Our midfield is top class. Tyrone Thompson is one of the best central midfielders in the division and kept your midfield quiet all game. We'll see what happens next week. |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
Same as usual I see. Super Stanley nick a point (could have been all 3 if i heard correctly - didn't Mangan miss a chance in the dying seconds?), yet the oppsition fans have to come onto our forum to whinge about it. Why can't they slag off teams on their own forum instead of trying (and failing IMHO) to wind up our supporters. Face the facts Halifax fans, both teams have had a reasonable season up to now, OK so Accy are top and 'fax are
7th, big deal, get over it, yes we have another 21 or whatever it is games to play, and yes Accy could slip up still, but someone mentioned 'bout Exeter being 2 points behind, what they failed to grasp is Accy have a game in hand on Exeter, and we still have to play them at St James Park, so that 2 points could conceivably be 8. Oh and BTW the away end holds more than 800 so no problem with space, this is assuming the game goes ahead due to current weather conditions. |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
You say we didn't show title credentials and we still came away with a point, this shows we can grind points out when maybe we aren't playing the best, this is what champions do "idiot". Barnet did it last season in the conference, chelsea did it in the premiership...
|
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
Right Halifax fans...
You're passionate about your team, we're passionate about ours, so... LETS RAISE THE NON ROOF'S ON 2ND JAN AND SHOW OUR PASSION FOR THE GAME OF FOOTBALL BY ALL SINGING AND CHANTING FROM BOTH ENDS NON STOP. PLEASE POST IF YOU'RE UP FOR IT....:D :D :D :engsmil: |

Still he did get in a 'Killer' cross after being provoked by some of our fans, after all it was us that gave him the incentive to do just that...........bollox to him in any colours |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
Agreed! I still think he is a prat and should not be playing for Town. He was very average versus Accy apart from his cross and we have faster players that can fill his position.
P.S. In reply to Harwood Red - I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE HALIFAX THRASH ACCY!!:cool:;) Nah, in all seriousness, I can't wait for the game and think it will be a good one. Hope both sets of players (and fans) will battle it out to prove themselves after an inconclusive boxing day match! Looking forward to it immensely! |
Re: Will your ground handle the away crowd Monday?
Awww Shay's only eighteen so we'll let him rant.
Yorkshire years are a bit like dog years, which makes him only about twelve in our Lancastrian/human years or something.;) |
