Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

with the season now in the second half and weather will start to improve in a few weeks, the Cambridge game is one we can expect to have a back to normal crowd for: they wont bring an awful lot, weather still a bit crap etc etc. After that we have Morecambe and Grays which should bring healthy crowds of 2500 whatever the stakes. If we are still top by April then the last few games will top 4000.

Cambridge is the last chance the club have to try to offer incentives to bring in the newcomers and get an extra couple of thousand on for. Rob said on The Bee today that the people of Accrington are starting to realise that something big may be about to happen, give it a final push Rob only 8 more non-league home matches left!

Macca so what you are saying is most of your games have been played at home so far, thats why your top for me. You wont last the pace.

I agree, the club could give it a push with the tickets, but also the facilities need to be improved. Like it or not, football is in the entetainment industry.
We are not trying to win over the people who come on this site who are obviously keen fans, but if you tried a new experience on a Saturday afternoon with the family, spent around £50 and spent 30 mins to queue for something to eat or to use a toilet, would you go back?

okay then using your argument;

Halifax have played 11 won 8 drawn 3 lost 0 at home. this is scoring an average of 2.4545 points per game multiplied by the remaining home matches equals 24.54 points

away from home won 3 drawn 4 lost 5 scoring an average of 13 points from 12 games equals 1.08333 points multiplied by 9 games remaining is 9.75 points.

9.75 plus 24.54 plus your current 40 would give you 74.29 points.

Ours would give us 84.35 and the title.

current................new Revised Table
Stanley............... Stanley 84.35
Exeter................. Exeter 75.25
Grays ................. Grays 74.45
Morecambe ...........Halifax 74.24
Halifax .................Morecambe 74.13
Stevenage ...........Stevenage 72.54

I am not saying that proves we will win the league but it blows a hole in the myth that we are top because we played more home matches.

You may, if you wish choose to take this to the Morecambe forum, as they have played one more home game than you, and they lack intelligent debate so you could win an argument maybe.

Can we all please ignore the fax fans they only here because most of their fans are hoolligans who ain't PC literate. The Halifax board has a post a week so if we stop talking to them they may get bored....

Also, the police bill for Saturday, I am delighted to point out, rests at the door of HTFC, as they were the yorkshire flavour their because they feared trouble from HTFC

Sweet!

new bogs please Willie then I can start having a pint before the game again

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

we are not going to see anymore bogs or any drastic changes in facilities before the end of the season....maybe some porta-loos but that would be at a push lol

Stanley V.s Cambridge is the same day as Burnley Vs Preston. Just letting you know that the gates may decrease again for this game.

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

it'd be a struggle then, but all the more reason to do something extra and something big! I know the arguments always goes that season ticket holders would be penalised but i am sure they, being the red through and through supporters that they are, would not kick up too much fuss for a one off. Maybe a free programme to compensate them a bit.

1. free programme for ticket holders
2. kids free with an adult - ticket holder or not
3. and this needs doing anyway, disabled folk able to get concession prices.
4. happy hour 1 til 2, get em in early
5. family ticket £20 Mum dad and 2 kids. No recently gay married men allowed unless its Elton and George Michael looking to 'pump' some money in.

Any more ideas chaps and chapesses?

Could Give a Free lucky Bag To kids who 11 or under who come with parents. e.g a few sweets (lollys) a pen pencil n ruler (ASFC Staionary).

Its a wild idea but it might get the kids to nag there parents to come to more macthes.

thats what we need, more ideas like that, as daft as it sounds that kind of thing works. Bits of crappy plastic around the house with fixture lists printed on. The more the club name is mentioned or seen, the more embedded in the head it gets.

possible name for the campaign Embed Red in yer head?

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

erm someone could organise a kids surrporters group lol daft idea but with all the kids dat go stanley now (primary kids) they cud tell there mates about the lil macth day club. e.g macth days get a 10p carton and biscuits at half tym . try and get some seats reseverd for them and at christmas time get a christmas party and a chance to meet the players and also a 20% discount to the soccer schools run by stanley in the holidays. so them in like 5 years time ages off there will be groups of 15/16 year olds who will surrport stanley instead of burnley or blackburn.

I've sponsored the match, but Friday night would be fine for me!!

"erm someone could organise a kids surrporters group"

tried it before but certain people involved weren't prepared to put in the time and effort they committed to.
if someone was prepared to take the job seriously im sure Junior Reds could start up again successfully

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

Good Idea friday night kick offs or even sunday. sould do this if we could every time blackurn and burnley are at home on the same day like wat happened with Altrincham in the FA Trophy A low Attendance. Saturdays attendance was better Because Burnley was away and rovers played at night thats probs one of the reasons for low gates becayse of people going to burnley and blackburn macthes.

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

we do need to target the kids and I think the club are doing that. I think though that we the fans need to target the disposable income age-group (of which I am no longer part of unfortunately), the 18-25 year olds. These people pay more, drink more, wear the brand, can travel away and make a bloody noise. Not a knock on the fans we have got but when you look at the Kipax photo's, the Ultra's look like a kids party. I wanna see more fella's in that behind the goal picture, big chaps, big noise etc.

We really need a concerted campaign with a poster. A half A4 flyer picture of the Halifax streamer with Coley's pic superimposed in the Lord Kitchener pose 'your town needs You' and then the next fixture printed underneath black on white. This then needs 2 of them putting up in every pub in the borough. One fan volunteers to poster say 4 pubs near to his/her house. Repeat until the area is covered, repeat every week. Do the workplace, do your local butty shop.

Where and how could we print and finance this. Does anybody know owt about the printing industry to get a cost on say 3000 every week. Does anybody know anyone who would sponsor this venture? Would the club contribute?

I know in the past we had the larger fixture posters in many newsagents, barbers etc. But, this time we need it to be exciting, show people what they are missing. The newspapers need to be saying that the Club are expecting a large crowd please arrive early, fill the back page with bulldust as well as the previous 31 pages.

Any more?

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

A group of fans could go asda in accrington if they will let them and have a sponsored fancy dress bag packing. My Old school managed it for a PE Trip to spain got lots of money out of it. just an idea a few ultras and the mascot(forgot the name) to help out and then with the money could go to the costs of publishin the leaflets in pubs and wat not. All that Takes is Asda To cooperate with there town team ...

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

liking it.....

Scott_ASFC 04-01-2006 23:26

Re: Discounted tickets for Cambridge?

Maybe The programme Publisher could help out a bit. they could also print a few stanley songs in the programme so all the fans know what the ultras are singing and askin more people to tell there mates about stanley .... e.g you tell one mate who then tells 5 mates who they then tell 5 of there mates and so on thats 30 new fans from just the 1 fan . Its a bit over the top but it could work.
