Poker Night Write up and Results!

Last night saw the very first A.S.F.C.S.C. Poker Fundraiser Tournament held in the Sports Bar.

The tournament started at 8pm with 12 players in total competing for the trophy and prize money.

Table 1 saw, Budmak (Mike), Ossyclogger (Len), Tannoy Man (John), and Rob Heys all battling it out for the best part of 1 and 1/2 hours in a closley fought fight which eventually saw Budmak through to the final table.

Table 2 saw Plum, Glyn, Uk Cowboy (Pete), and Chris (Faz's fella!) go at each other for what seemed like hours, trash talking at the table (all in fun) and some of the best hands seen all night drawn at this table! Plum was first to go all in and lose, unlucky buddy! Next out was Glyn, which left total novice Chris, who had dominated the table for most of the early hands go head to head with Uk Cowboy, unfortunatley Chris's luck couldnt hold out and Uk Cowboy progressed to the final table.

Table 3 saw Jonathan, Darren, Mick and Cammy in a mammoth game, infact it was the longest table game of the evening!! Mick went out first, followed by Jonathan, leaving Cammy and Darren to go head to head resulting in a win through to the final for Cammy........another novice through.......well done.

We held a fourth place playoff between Darren and Chris for the £10 fourth place prize, which Chris eventually won with 2 pair I beleive, which just goes to show you dont have to be an experienced player to get into the prize money, Chris was still learning the rules etc at 7.55 pm as he was taking his seat at table 2............Excellent play Chris, and I hope Kaz has calmed down and that your stomach is now back to normal!!!

Onto the final table, Budmak, Cammy and Uk Cowboy, took their places and tournament referee Sarah (Sparkie) dealt for the final.

The very first hand saw Budmak go all in with 2 pair only to lose out to Uk Cowboys 10 high straight which he made on the river, giving him a a creditable third place and £15 prize money.

This left Cammy and Uk Cowboy to go head to head for the trophy and first place, the first hand saw both players dealt the same hole cards, Jack,Six, and resulted in a split pot, so honours even! However the next hand saw the end of the tournament, Uk Cowboy put Cammy all in after the flop, Cammy had no choice to call as he had 2 pair, which was beating Uk's pair of threes, the turn did nothing to improve either hand so it all rested on the river. Tension was high at the table as both players knew this could be the end, the river card was dealt and up turned the miracle card for Uk Cowboy...........a three! As three of a kind beats 2 pair this made Uk Cowboy the winner and Cammy picked up 2nd place.

So :-

4th place.........Chris £10
3rd place.........Budmak £15
2nd place.........Cammy £25
1st place.........Uk Cowboy £40 and a very nice trophy

A very successful evening enjoyed by all who attended and will hopefully become a regular monthly fundraiser for the football club, watch this space for the date of Aprils tourney and dont miss out on a great fun evening!!

Special thanks go to the following:-

What a good night! A nice mix of a little bit of experience and complete novices.

Nice to see some people with lucky charms or in Budmaks case an Apple!!! It all added to the atmosphere of the night.

Many a heart rate rose and fell as everyone got into the game, and it was great to see people who hadn't played before taking chips off people with more experience than them.

All this accompanied by refreshments from the bar served by Karen and Shakermaker looking very dapper in shirt and tie waiting tables!!!

Everyone expressed a desire to do it again, so hopefully we can sort that for next month.

Remember we have 24 places available at the tables so if you want to have a go let us know.

Well done Cowboy.
