Judging by the refs performance tonight - we are going to have to win those 5 games we need for promotion. Mkandawire did a cracking impression of a goalkeeper and saved a certain goal in 2nd half and didn't even get cautioned (where is the justice  ) JC and JB at the match receiving plenty of abuse from Hereford fans, but smiled throughout. Both teams should have finished with fewer players than started Hereford 8 Southport 10 due to later incident which the goalie should have seen red for dangerous play and two other players should have walked for the resulting melee - especially as the 'Port player who had burst through on goal was offside. Thought Southport were desperately unlucky on there 2nd half showing, but we shouldn't have too many problems on Tuesday next week, especially if we get our fans behind the team (as I am sure we will)

JC and JB knew that they had done what they went to do at Edgar Street and it worked like a treat - thats why...

Danny Ventre must be feeling even more hard done by with Mkandawire giving away a penalty for handball but not even booked for it let alone sent off - what a Mullarkey!

Sat next to John & Jimmy and had to endure the abuse - the worst I've ever experienced in all my years watching football at any level.

We all accept banter and good natured ribbing - but this was personal abuse of the highest order and JC & JB have to be applauded for not rising to the bait.

At least one of their fans redeemed himself when he approached us at a petrol station and apologised on behalf of the "kind hearted gentlefolk" responsible for the abuse, who were posing as true Hereford fans.

For the last half hour - they actually stopped supporting their team in favour of joining in with the abuse!

Yeagh I heard about this... there all congratulating themselves on the Hereford forum for there efforts in this matter...

Are hereford fans turning into barrow fans I wonder... Its the same thing.. they couldnt handle not being top and just abused all things stanley right throught to end of season and after.......

Coley1957 - this was exactly the point I was making, neither rose to the bait, in fact when Hereford fans sang stand up if you hate Coleman - JC stood up. I thought he handled the taunting and abuse with aplomb. There was absolutely no need for that amount of personal abuse. And the Mkandawire incident for the Southport penalty must have left them bemused, I know it did me.

I'd love to have us win the league at the Interlink but, if it comes to Morecambe v Hereford on 4 April, then it's going to be quite a night. Winning it in front of the Bulls (and Morecambe) will be very pleasing, especially if Coley and the team are in the crowd with us.

Outback Ozzy - JC can handle the insults, it was harder for me to take as I felt that the abuse was directed at my family - and that it was uncalled for.

I registered on the HUFC forum and made a post under "True Supporters".
It was encouraging to get some support from Hereford fans - but it is evident that ill feeling exists from some supporters who base their opinion on what they see or hear (sometimes via a third party). There are "unofficial" interviews which can often add a particular bias - and this can often inflame a situation for those who do not have the full picture.

It is interesting to note that the post has had over 500 views. One guy responded by giving 3 links to BBC reports which attempt to give some justification to his argument. The fact that in all 3 - JC had very real reasons to feel aggrieved illustrate my point that the game really is all about opinion.

Re: Hereford tonight

I really wouldnt give 2 poos about it if I was you - it was Herefords cup final and the behaviour of some of their 'fans' blatently showed that fact, especially being 2 down at home - thats no form for going up is it?? From the reports Ive heard, the management handled themselves excellently in very difficult and unnecessary conditions at Hereford coz we went there and did a job on em - full credit to JC, JB and PC. Sore losers, sour grapes, JEALOUSY is about the sum of it all really - yes, very much like Barrow fans were at the time in that respect... Just move on (Stanley are and they arent and thats what they dont like) and take it with a pinch of salt if you can - the more educated of us know the real score...
Keep the faith - be Red, be proud... Football league is a-coming at last and JC and JB are totally responsible for that and Im so pleased for them :)
