I know it's been used so often that it's become something of a cliche now but how about prefacing Bazf's succinct description wiith "The Club That Would Not Die"

Really Winoni Bazf ! You forget how things work in England!
First you call a meeting at a time that no employable person can attend.
Then you appoint yourself a committee.
Then you invite input from everyone just to appear democratic.
You then hold another meeting just fattended by the committee.
The committee decide that non of the suggestions are good enough and produce the most obscure name imaginable.
This is then submitted to a similar funding committee that decides the idea is a non-starter anyway and awards the funding to an obscure borough of London, to build a bridge that permits only the passage of gay and lesbian Asians, and is dedicated to the memory of Bobby Sands.
;)

This post certainly ranks as one of the most offensive that we've ever seen on this forum.

Ignorant and prejudiced are the two mildest words which spring to mind, and I don't know how the perpetrator has the nerve to call himself "Lancashire Stan" as he cannot possibly speak for any decent person in the community which is represented here.

Words almost fail me that the hard work and sacrifice of people such as Gayle and Bill in trying to get this project off the ground should produce such an unpleasant response from such a bigoted moron.

Thanks Kipax!
I was just about to produce an equaly scathing reply to Mr Mortons posting. But thankfully at least one person can see it was just a light hearted jibe at us English.

Yeah, you've jumped the gun on this one Henry. I read it as it was intended. As a harmless poke at bureaucracy and the self importance of local officialdom.

The only objection I'd have is that I'd make a similar comment earlier on in the thread. ;)

Maybe, but there does seem to be a certain amount of gratuitous homophobic and racist content, or does putting a ;) excuse this?

In an age of hyper-sensitivity you can find offence wherever you look.

I see nothing homophobic or racist in the post at all. I detect no contempt or prejudice based on sexuality or ethnicity either, so where your claim comes from I'm not sure.

PHP Code:

Hardly!
There was quite a strong poke at certain type of patronising, pseudo tolerant, pseudo inclusive, funding Committees though!

Basically, we're in a lose-lose situation - either we consult with people and we get ridiculed for doing so or we don't consult and we get hassle for running roughshod over everyone and not consulting.

So, does anybody have any suggestions for the name of an Accrington Stanley exhibition?
