Gary Roberts update

Re: Gary Roberts update
Whats it say sparkie? Because you have to register and not really worth it.
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
same here sparkie, give us a clue? :)
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
It just said that they have cooled their interest on the player as the deal as hit a stumbling block and they will not be making any further offers and will look elsewhere for a left sided player. It also said the "deal is as dead as a duck," or something like that :)

Re: Gary Roberts update
Cheers Zayno14, appreciated. :)
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
Yep pretty much as zayno said, although i don't remember having to register on their site!!! Sorry chaps.
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
I think anyone can view new news for a limited amount of time without registering then it becomes encrypted and you have to login or register....
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
But, do we all want a player here that is only going to put in 75% effort week in - week out
When he pulls on that shirt, he should want to play and put in 110%, and anything less than that is unacceptible |
Re: Gary Roberts update
Gary Roberts is a Stanley player.. I havent seen any quotes from him saying he doesnt want to play. I havent seen him on the pitch not bothered..
All I have seen is certain posters on here sticking knives in his back... |
Re: Gary Roberts update
.... And the fact that Whalley has spoke to him and actualy been quoted on certain things such as ....
The Chairman doesn't think that the club will be troubled too much by a Roberts departure. He said: "He's a good player Gary but we won't miss him all that much. I'm sure we can find a suitable replacement." Now, when your chairman makes a statement like that about one of our best players, you know something's gone on |
Re: Gary Roberts update
So what ya gonna do if you see him playing for stanley.. running his heart out and scoring goals.... or making goals as he does more of... what then ?
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
Maybe so, but hopefully it has all been sorted out now. According to Ian Craney in the LET the other night Gary is back, fully focused and ready for the new season with Stanley and as Kipax says we have no reason to doubt that he will do his best. He has no reason not to do so because even if he does still want to move on (and I really hope he doesn't) he will have to be at his best to attract any potential new club.

Re: Gary Roberts update
Im going to come on here, and make a apoligy to the people of accrington, but when players havent moved onto the next level, its normally the opposite
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
So your going to continue posting poison and bad mouthing one of our players...then if your wrong you will apologise.... yeagh good plan......
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
No, im going to continue backing up my argument of where i got my statments from
Ok ? |
Re: Gary Roberts update
yeagh OK .... you read on a MB things about gary roberts.. you decided to add a few more bits and continue to post them slagging him off even though its been pointed out thats its sorted...
I will continue to point out that he is a stanley player and should be supported until HE says he doesnt want to be here or HE doesnt give 100% When i say suypport him.. i mean support him rather than attack him.. i am not talking about how long or big a stanley fan you are as you seem to ahve taken it in another thread :) |
Re: Gary Roberts update
I will continue to support Accrington Stanley and anyone who pulls on the shirt and takes to the field, but when a players comitment has been questioned, you have to sometimes believe the hype
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
I think you'll find a lot of things get said by footballers agents and lets face it gary ain't the brightest button on the cardigan. If his agent has turned his head to bigger money then thats between him and gary.
He's a talented lad will obviously want to get as far as he can with his career, but to say he won't try is wrong. Gary knows hes got to knuckle down now and play his heart out coz he wont go anywhere but down, sat on his backside in the dug out. Top and bottom gary loves his football and I'd rather he enjoyed it with us. |
Re: Gary Roberts update
I agree with you up to a point.. but your then adding bits ... i dont recall gary roberts saying he wouldnt give 100% or that he wanted to leave.
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
Well when your linked with another club and go to meet agents etc. it sort of leads the fans down the path of "i want to leave"
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
being a footballer is a job... if you get offered more money elsewhere then your a fool not to look..
your putting a lot of store by what eric has said... yet eric also said he would prefer him to sit his last year out on the bench... i think 99% of people know that statement is not true as he would then leave and the club get nothing.... so do you also believe eric when he saus that or are you being selective? :) |

Surely we should be angry at the agent who has alledgedly turned his head & illegally showed him insane figures of cash he could be earning. We should also applaud the integrity of Eric when shooting down nasty speculation which disrupts our players. |
Re: Gary Roberts update
But i have always thought when you sign for a club and play for them for a season and you get love from the fans, there has to be a little thing called LOYALTY
Yet again, not questioning it, but i belive that is what football today lacks at every club in the country, from Unibond to the Premiership, there is always some "big fish" to pry away a talented home-grown youngster with the promise of big bucks weekly and a celebrity lifestyle with a big house, and its getting pathetic, just like the money in our game today (which clubs like lower league teams never see) |
Re: Gary Roberts update
shakermaker: So ya dont think erics comments fueld the anti roberts feelings then ?
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
Well, they led to some thoughts of "he doesnt want to be here, so why should we keep him?"
|

We also know how passionate Eric Whalley is about this football club. All I'm saying is people shouldn't be so quick to shoot down our own without proof of dissent towards the club. |
Re: Gary Roberts update
Agree with ya Shaker, no one can question Eric's dedication towards the club, and who can blame someone for quoting him ?

No KIPAX, dont try and twist my words, its called making a statement
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
haha wind yer neck in dan :)
|
Re: Gary Roberts update
Its wound in Kipax, dont you worry
Im making a point about Erics love and comitment to the club, not having a pop at the bloke :) |
Re: Gary Roberts update
I don't suppose people can be blamed for quoting him; but it is risky to trust a quote - you don't understand the context in which Eric made his comments.
I know I wouldn't have been able to hold my language aswell as Eric did if I was in his shoes when Yeovil/agents acted the way they did. IMO we shouldn't trust/rely on the hearsay; it only sparks trouble. Sparkie talked to Gary not long ago & reported that he is in high spirits, albeit a little wary about Doherty signing. Now if you want to read between the lines; the only thing you can draw from that is that Gary is hungrier than ever to play good football for ASFC. I would rely on that information more than the rumour mill on here... |
Re: Gary Roberts update
I think the Doherty signing could only be good for Gary, give him someone to test himself again, because lets face it, last season his place was nearly gauranteed every week
I think both will be used in variation all season, and i cant say i blame Coley, he has 2 top quality players there !!! For some reason, that last comment just made me more excited and looking foward to tommorow/next season's football |
