Accrington Stanley v Blackburn Rovers
 

note sure if this is the correct forum...and it's probably been covered in the past, apologies if some think it's a daft question , but does anyone know the last time Accy Stanley (original Peel Park league team) played Blackburn Rovers in a either a League or Cup game ? as a kid from Arrod growing up in the 50's and 60's during the days of Derek Dougan and Ronnie Clayton , the Rovers were either 1st or 2nd division teams and Stanley were in the 3rd . The teams must have played against each other at one time just wondering when it was .

Stanley played Rovers in a friendly at Peel Park in the 54-55 season in front of a record crowd of 17,634. Never played each other in the league, but they were drawn against each other in the cup in the 36-37 season. A 2-2 draw at Ewood led to a replay at Peel Park which Stanley won 3-1. It was played on a weekday afternoon and Bulloughs shut down, so the work people could go. Stanley went on to lose against Man City at Maine Road in the next round.
