Dad & Bro was/is Blackburn, Both my sisters, 1 (ex)bro-in-law & me Burnley, another bro-in-law Tranmere Rovers, best was mum - she always said she was neutral but had a soft spot for Rovers in fact they were her team after the local team. Come to national games - mum & dad northern ireland, and then the Republic of Ireland - England came 3rd in the list! bro, sisters & me & bro-in-laws all England. Can you imagine what it was like and even now its the same. Bro, his 2 daughters - Rovers, sisters, 2 nephews, 2 nieces burnley, bro in law tranmere rovers, 1 nieces boyfriend & her son - man utd. Just for Kiwi John

A few years ago a man knocked at my front door to advise me of some work that was being done next door. In friendly businesslike banter he asked, "are you a Claret, or a Blue".

Well, I just felt my back arch, I'd never considered either as an option, and wouldn't want to be tarnished with either brush. I heard a somewhat louder and prouder than normal voice reply, "STANLEY MAN, ME."

Bit of an epiphany for me, I was a mad Evertonian in my long lost youth, (the Harry Catterick years), but Stanley is something else again.

Re: The 'Other' team.

I’m a Stanley lad, always have been. I’ll watch other games and usually back the under dog, but I don’t really support anyone else and never wanted too. Admittedly I only been coming home for the last couple of years to watch them play, but On Stanley on, like the team we distant supporters don’t die, we just fade in to the mist of time and then remerge resplendent in our passion. On Stanley on.……
