Donny Match

Donny fan at work says away fans are on an open terrace but can pay more to be seated in a "wooden stand". I have to go to this one for the sake of bragging rights (hopefully). Will stay at daughter's house in Sheffied overnight and get up early for work, as I don't fancy a late, bad weather drive over the Snake Pass, especially if we lose.:(
How many will we take??

KIPAX 22-11-2006 12:08

Re: Donny Match

I would guess 100 at most. Given that we are away to grimsby a couple of days before

Some stupid ****** has arranged a 50th birthday party on the same night for a geordie fan. Very bad timing IMHO and I have been trying like hell to come up with excuses but 'er indoors' says I have to go as I am the Taxi driver. Good luck to the lads and come away with a win please

maccawozzagod.. have you got a fixation with me or something... get a life mate :)

Re: Donny Match

Apparently, due to a low gate expected we will be put under cover on one of the long sides, not exposed to the elements, though it's a good forecast anyway!
Got 10-1 against Burnley and us doing a Wars of the Roses double tonight.

That sums it up nicely Spud . Not surprising with another changed line-up - and who the frig is Smith on our bench? Must be the young lad from the youth team!

I don't understand why people are surprised by this defeat. We've only won away once all season, so why anyone expected a win tonight is a puzzle, especially considering the run we've been on and the change in personnel.

The Radio Sheffield Commentator Andy Giddings just announced the final whistle and said it "was well played between 2 decent sides".

Or can we at least have players in their correct positions - Rocky back where he should be in centre of defence with Welchy, Phil at right back and Leam at left back. Joel Byrom should be given a chance in centre mid alongside Procky, Toddy on the left of course but who on the right wing - with Shaun Whalley banned and Doherty shipped off to Southport - Mangy maybe? Finally Mully & McGivern up front

Redraine 29-11-2006 12:01

Re: Donny Match

What a horrible 3 hour journey. Left work in Blackburn early at 4.30 and took an age to get onto the M66. Heard on travel radio of delays due to 1 lane only on the M62 so opted for Woodhead Pass route but took 25 minutes to do the mile from M67 to Mottram traffic lights. OK over the Woodhead but interminable, unfamiliar A- roads round Barnsley and over to the A1M. Finally made it onto the M18 at about 7.00 and eventually picked up lovely "Football stadium" signs taking me to (you've guessed it) -the brand new, unlit and deserted showpiece stadium in the middle of nowhere! Two other drivers were also doing 3-point turns and one shouted "Follow me, I've got sat-nav!" My little Fiesta was burning rubber keeping up with his M-type BMW roadster and made it with 15 mins to spare. God bless you sir, whoever you are, as I would certainly have missed the kick off without you. Disoriented by this, after the match I took the wrong road home to my daughter's house in Sheffield and spent a sleepless night after she gave me un-decaffinated coffee, my brain zinging. Up at 6.00 am and another horrid drive back via the M1 and M62 and got into work at 8.44 for an 8.45 start.
Oh, yes...the match! I thought we did OK and played with a lot of spirit and no little skill. We could well have had a couple of goals with our purple 10 minute patch in the second half when the 10 men battered their goal, but but no such luck. The ref annoyed me by manhandling Whalley and making an absolute drama of brandishing and waving the red card for about a full minute - sickening!
Well done the Ultras for non-stop, full repertoir of songs and chants. Overall a memorable football experience with a disapproving wife stuck at home on her own. Was it all worth it? You bet it was.

KIPAX 29-11-2006 12:07

Re: Donny Match

I know its picky... but the ref did seem to make a meal of the red card.... did he think he was on SKY ?

AccyMad 29-11-2006 12:40

Re: Donny Match

What about Shaun's tackle though - was it definately a straight red or was the ref just being - well a ref?

KIPAX 29-11-2006 12:47

Re: Donny Match

I thought red deffo. Jimmy Bell and Coley where feet away and they didn't exactly argue about it..they would if there was any doubt.

No, I think he thought he was on stage at a night-club in Manchester's gay village. ( With apologies to the PC brigade).
