If 2BR did commentary on Rochdale on Monday, would anybody listen?

It's the Lancashire Senior Cup, and to be honest, I'm not entirely sure how important it is. However, if Coley says at the press conference tomorrow that it's a 1st team game and that it'll be mostly 1st team players, then we will potentially be able to do commentary.

The main point of this post though, is does anybody care? And would you listen?

Re: If 2BR did commentary on Rochdale on Monday, would anybody listen?

I think it's mostly reserve teams that play in it now Dan. When Burnley played Rochdale 2 years ago they played behind closed doors such is the nature of the competition !!

The Lancashire FA don't even list last seasons winners.

Dan,

Good question: But where's the press conferenece??

Rumour has it Coley and the chairman are on a european spying mission and are not back in the UK until tomorrow evening.

Don't think you'll be seeing him at Barnoldswick tomorrow.

Also reserves have a Pontins League game on Wednesday at the FES.

Interesting to know team selection for both games.

PS

Did the reserves play today?? No mention on fishy site, yet Radio Lancs said Blackpool won 1-0!!

Dan cover it please, every game covered opens up the club to your listeners across East Lancashire and the world if you can get it on the web, I’ll be listening on the web. The more Radio coverage the greater the possible interest will be generated amongst the uninitiated.

Rochdale don't even have the match listed on their fixtures. Told you it was low key :D

Sorry, I know it's off thread but yes SouthernRed the reserves did play yesterday and did indeed lose 1 nil to a Blackpool side which included our Rory. Apparently Bavs was in the nets (maybe an indication that Rob could be playing Saturday??), Welchy and Rocky both played 45 minutes each (but not at the same time).
To get back on thread, yes Dan I would listen if you would be so kind as to provide a full commentary :p

We already know its low key :) but rochdale site is one of them there ptv sites so only includes whats in the database and thats league and compotitions that all league clubs are in.. so it wouldnt show..

I emailed rochdale yesterday as a fan... asking them what the prices where for monday v accy and is it a first team fixture... I await there response..

dan ..wahts the answer to southern red re news conference if coley and eric are abroad? as i suspect they are :)

lancsdave 14-12-2006 09:42

Re: If 2BR did commentary on Rochdale on Monday, would anybody listen?

Even though it's low key the one beam of light is that there is a possibility of playing a Man Utd 11 in the final if you get through. If thats at home then a game against any Man Utd team should bring some good revenue in.

WHY IF WE GET TO THE FINAL - Are they exempt until the final?

Sorry !! If you BOTH get to the final. Only need to win 2 matches to get there lol

PS Just realised you may have meant semi-final could also bring some money in :-)

I bet even the most ardent man u fan couldnt name a player in a team put out for this... i bet some of the man u players for this kind of comp have never even seen the inside of old trafford...

i wouldnt go getting your hopes up... it will be the youth reserves C team or summat :) one step up from there fans team :)

Dan 14-12-2006 11:35

Re: If 2BR did commentary on Rochdale on Monday, would anybody listen?

Right then, the main factor on whether we do commentary or not is if it is treated as a first team fixture by our management. I asked Jimmy this morning, and he said "wait and see". So I guess it is watch this space folks. I'd hope that both sides will take it seriously enough to merit coverage.

To answer the press conference question, it is every Thursday morning at 1030 up at Barlick. There was, as speculated (u bunch of gossips ;) ) no Mr Coleman, with Jimmy making no secret that he was away. So we spoke to Jimmy instead.

Hope this answers some of the previous posts.

I stand corrected... smith? thats a pretty big utd name... I have seen utd put out teams for stuff where no one knows who these kids in utd tops are..

hope yet then :)

i've heard of all of those players for United. Do they win it every year then?

lancsdave 14-12-2006 12:10

Re: If 2BR did commentary on Rochdale on Monday, would anybody listen?

Oldham are the current holders ( they beat Man Utd on the way to the final lol) The final was held in July carried over from last season

The thing about the BBC article is the date. August would have been used by Fergie to try his fringe players out in competitive matches. Kipax is right in that you never know what Utd team will turn out, it obviously depends on the schedules Utd have at the time, and as seen in the Preston matches if he has players coming back from injury who need match practice.

Apparently they will be fielding "youth team players and a couple of first teamers" and it is a 7pm kick off. Nowt on admission prices or owt.
I hasten to add that this is from a colleague who has a friend at the club, not directly from it. I am having the same "communication breakdown" with Rochdale as Kipax...
